Comfortable, calming and chic, Café Trio draws a diverse clientele of urban dwellers, on-the-town suburbanites and tourists who strike up lively conversations over classically inspired craft cocktails and beautifully imagined seasonal, from-scratch dishes. Perched on the incline at 45th and Main Street, the restaurant’s all-seasons patio view of the J.C. Nichols Fountain and Country Club Plaza add to the vibe. Executive Chef Adam Yoder and his culinary team hand-cut the steaks and chops and use a cornucopia of local and regional produce and artisan foods for their well-curated menu. Don’t-miss items include Café Trio’s handcrafted cracker-crust pizzas, roasted chicken, confit garlic mashed potatoes and the warm chocolate truffle cake. Imbibe your pleasures at the weekly happy hour with signature martinis such as the Marilyn Monroe or Paris Hilton — paired with the Price Edward Island mussels or crispy lump crab cakes, you just might have fantasies of taking up residence in one of Café Trio’s comfy booths. And if you’re planning a party, Trio’s two private event spaces are just the ticket for a sexy soiree.

Graduation Dinner

We had a family dinner with 12 people to celebrate a graduation. We sat in a second floor area overlooking the main restaurant. The food was delicious. My sister was crazy for the mac' n cheese. I had the hanger steak which I would recommend.

I should start by saying I am not into mussels, but the others at the table leally ilked them. We were invited as guests and did not know this place. We thought that the dinner menu is kind of limited, and and in all honesty needs a bit of expansion. Some simpler grilled seafood would have been nice - most... More

I recently went to Cafe Trio to celebrate my Birthday with family. I had accumulated Kansas City Originals rewards and planned on using those for my visit. When we requested our check we noticed that the bottle of wine we ordered was not 1/2 price on our check as advertised on the menu. When we asked the server about this... More

I'm disappointed with your review because of how many facts you carefully omitted. However I'll try to clear some of them up here, as well as post a copy of the email I sent to your brother. You were asked when you ordered the 1/2 price wine that it could not be used in conjunction with any other discounts. It... More

There is a reason their Mac and cheese has won awards! That dish plus a (big) salad and a glass of wine for $16 during happy hour on the patio. Great value and service.

The food was very good and being able to eat on the outdoor patio overlooking the park and big fountain in the plaza was great. The pork belly and ribeye were both very good and the Mac n cheese was incredible! The cocktails weren't great, a little strong but other than that we really enjoyed it here. Service was good.

Very nice Reaturant to hold lunch meeting. Wonderful options and plenty of salad and low cal meals. The kitchen is quick and you can get in and out without any issue during your break. I had the root veg salad and thought it was very tasty and kept me full for the afternoon

Once a year I'm in Kansas City and this is the third amazing meal. I catch them on like a Monday, traditionally slow and they have the most amazing specials. Vietnamese pork belly soup with fried noodles, to-die-for mussels in white wine creme sauce and garlic, and a great wine list. Hit them when they're slow for gourmet at bargain... More

We happened upon a great happy hour at Cafe Trio while staying nearby. They had good priced drink specials & wine by the glass and beer. We enjoyed the crab cakes (excellent), tuscan shrimp pizza (very good) and the wilted spinach salad (very good). We were able to sit in the back on a covered deck that had screens so... More

I came here the other day just as happy hour was starting. I was seated pretty quickly. I chose to dine inside, while there were a few quests dining on the patio. This is the first time here for me, so I took a few minutes to browse the menu. I went with the HH $5 burger and fries. The... More

I've been here 3 times and each time I'm thrilled with the food. Located right near the Country Club Plaza, their food is simply great. I wouldn't recommend it for a family ( only due to cost) but definitely business or dinner for couples or a date! The Chef is also great at avoiding allergies (YMMV).
