Description: Comfortable, calming and chic, Café Trio draws a diverse clientele of urban dwellers, on-the-town suburbanites and tourists who strike up lively conversations over classically inspired craft cocktails and beautifully imagined seasonal, from-scratch dishes. Perched on the incline at 45th and Main Street, the restaurant’s all-seasons patio view of the J.C. Nichols Fountain and Country Club Plaza add to the vibe. Executive Chef Adam Yoder and his culinary team hand-cut the steaks and chops and use a cornucopia of local and regional produce and artisan foods for their well-curated menu. Don’t-miss items include Café Trio’s handcrafted cracker-crust pizzas, roasted chicken, confit garlic mashed potatoes and the warm chocolate truffle cake. Imbibe your pleasures at the weekly happy hour with signature martinis such as the Marilyn Monroe or Paris Hilton — paired with the Price Edward Island mussels or crispy lump crab cakes, you just might have fantasies of taking up residence in one of Café Trio’s comfy booths. And if you’re planning a party, Trio’s two private event spaces are just the ticket for a sexy soiree.

Our hotel suggested we try this place. We were thrilled and blown away with this establishment! To start with, it is beautifully decorated. The atmosphere was great. We were greeted with a friendly hostess and they were able to accommodate us on a busy night without reservations. I couldn't believe how packed it was on a week night! A whole... More

Great atmosphere with friendly service. They have a great room to host a party in as well. The food was delicious as well as the dessert. Be sure to use valet parking, it is worth the extra few bucks.

I love creative uses of food and that's exactly what we found here. Huge sea scallops perfectly cooked, served piping hot on top of roasted root vegetables. Kobe beef meatloaf topped with gorgonzola and served with garlic mashed potatoes. Salads to die for and a great dessert menu. Excellent friendly service. Highly recommended.

My coastal bias is showing. Did an overnight in Kansas Cit (Mo) and wandered down to Cafe Trio because it was listed in Gay Cities. The menu sounded like the Chef might be too creative. Wrong! Amazing creations that will challenge your taste and whisk your brain! What a find! Need some stronger Sonoma Zins (way too much Napa)... But... More

Trendy cafe. Really good service. I had the mussels for a starter and they were excellent. The cream sauce was especially tasty and I used bread to swop every last drop, it was that good. My wife had a spinach salad and she said it was delicious. Her main was the salmon chowder and I had the crispy pork belly.... More

Cafe Trio is a charming restaurant overlooking the Country Club Plaza, with private parking. The Menu is outstanding and the food is prepared to perfection. My personal favorite, the mussels. Service is friendly and attentive, but you are never rushed. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

We always enjoy going here, especially when we can sit on the patio. Had a great happy hour/evening meal. Fried oysters, trio salad, happy hour burger - everything was great and we love the Plaza view.

This restaurant was recommended to me by someone from the area and I was eager to try it. It had a fun ambiance when we arrived. The hostess was friendly. But I was sorely disappointed by a steak that was gristly and basically inedible, bathed in a chimmichurri that was the tastiest thing I had there besides the bread and... More

I want to apologize that you did not have a more enjoyable experience while dining at Café Trio. It is my sincere hope and the intent of my entire staff that all of our guests have an exceptional experience, and it is always a huge disappointment when we learn otherwise. I'm sorry that you found our wine offerings too expensive,... More

We hadn't been to Cafe Trio at lunch for many months. Great things in store for you if you stop by mid-day this winter. The chef has added a wonderful salmon chowder to their soups, and the sandwich offerings are creative and filling. I had the "breaded pork" sandwich, so I anticipated some version of a tenderloin. Not so! It... More
