Description: Comfortable, calming and chic, Café Trio draws a diverse clientele of urban dwellers, on-the-town suburbanites and tourists who strike up lively conversations over classically inspired craft cocktails and beautifully imagined seasonal, from-scratch dishes. Perched on the incline at 45th and Main Street, the restaurant’s all-seasons patio view of the J.C. Nichols Fountain and Country Club Plaza add to the vibe. Executive Chef Adam Yoder and his culinary team hand-cut the steaks and chops and use a cornucopia of local and regional produce and artisan foods for their well-curated menu. Don’t-miss items include Café Trio’s handcrafted cracker-crust pizzas, roasted chicken, confit garlic mashed potatoes and the warm chocolate truffle cake. Imbibe your pleasures at the weekly happy hour with signature martinis such as the Marilyn Monroe or Paris Hilton — paired with the Price Edward Island mussels or crispy lump crab cakes, you just might have fantasies of taking up residence in one of Café Trio’s comfy booths. And if you’re planning a party, Trio’s two private event spaces are just the ticket for a sexy soiree.

Unpretentious, competent, efficient and helpful staff. The food tastes as if it were made from fresh local sources, it's that good. We ate every morsel of what we ordered and left not feeling weighed down by our choices, another sign of well prepared food from experienced kitchen hands. I will be back, even though I'm not a regular patron of... More

Cafe Trio has been a favourite of our son and daughter in law since their arrival in KC and recommended it to us for an evening meal. It is a chic restaurant in the Plaza District of the city. The Blue Cheese Bistro and Crab Cakes were tasty choices for starters. The salmon and grilled beef were well prepared mains... More

Our son and his wife love this little restaurant on the Country Club Plaza, so since we were staying within walking distance, we thought it an excellent time to try it. We had a nice table close to the windows. We were eating early, so it was still hot outside, but the patio looked very inviting. Our waiter was David... More

I stayed in a hotel near Cafe Trio and it was the first restaurant I encountered when walking away from the hotel while being hungry. I enjoyed my meal so much that I returned the next night. The food is first rate with good variety in starters, salad and entrees. I had the lamb chops one night and the pork... More

This place has it all for us. Great patio view of the plaza, good food and drinks, a lively atmosphere, and service that is a winner. We come here several times a year and we have not been disappointed. Only regret is that we did not find it sooner. And parking is right behind the restaurant.

We were referred to this place as it was close to where we were staying. Glad I didn't read the menu before we entered or I wouldn't have gone inside. It is a fusion style, upscale, with very little generic food. Even for a food lover, some combinations get excessive. I opted for the chicken and replaced on ingredient to... More

Very quaint place. Hidden gem. Highly recommended. Although we didn't sit on the deck, it looked like a great setting with a nice view.
