On a beautiful spring day our family was strolling near Union Station. Lunchtime. Not BBQ again! Then we see a lovely patio and an Austrian restaurant. Greeting and table perfect. Menu amazing and interesting choices not often experienced. Time for a food fest. We tried smoked gouda and beer soup, an incredible sample of meats including liverwurst, Hungarian salami, mortadella... More

Excellent menu and service. Family owned and the pride shows---like a quick trip to Vienna. Recommend pretty much everything---the schnitzels, bratens, curry sausage. Good beer selection on tap. Austrian food can be heavy, but this is a great spot for lunch or dinner.

My guess is the rent for this place is high, because they charge pretty exorbitant prices for basic german cuisine. I have been now a few times, and the food is always very good, but other german places I've been to around the country charge much less for the same dishes. Anyone visiting from out of town might consider somewhere... More

We decided at the last moment to visit this restaurant on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was nearly empty, we were acknowledged and seated quickly and our server came fairly quickly. Deciding on our choices didn't take too long, and we received our drinks in good time. Our salad took a bit of time, but it was quite a while... More

Authentic menu. Veal selection. Several sausage options. Prices reasonable. Interesting atmosphere in old freight shop.

The food is well prepared, the beer authentic and the ambience welcoming and attentive. I prefer lunch to dinner the lunch menu is a bargain, however the full dinner menu is available. The schnitzel is large and flavorful, the sausages well cooked but try some of the other offerings like fried mushrooms as well as the mussels. They are always... More

I made the mistake of calling this German food once and got schooled, but whatever kind of food it is, it's delicious. The atmosphere is a little strange because inside it's pretty classy, but the view out the window is freight trains going by. Nonetheless, the service was good and we liked the schnitzels.

I visited the restaurant for a business lunch. There is an upstairs that works well for this. The group of 8 had terrific service and the food was fabulous.

It is a rare restaurant in the U.S. that serves a European continental cuisine that rivals the fare of the home country. Grunauer does just that. If it weren’t for the American English of the wait staff, you’d swear you were in Vienna. We had the Jausenbrettl appetizer of sliced salami and meats with pickled vegetables, and a wonderful roasted... More
