Good restaurant

I've never been to an authentic German restaurant before, so not much to base it on. The food was good and they offered many types of beer. Great service also!

I've visited this restaurant several times, and the food is good, but the evening prices don't give the diner a good value. I would recommend lunch where the value is a little more in line with the quality of the food and service. The food selection is pretty basic, and the food tilts more toward German than Austrian.

We went in on a Sunday evening about 7pm. We were seated in the dining room - they were not very busy (about 3 tables inside and 3-4 outside). We sat and waited for a server for 18 minutes and finally got up and left. Servers and a manager wandered in and out and never spoke to patrons including us.... More

We had a large group of 27 people dine together here. Almost Everyone said they liked this restaurant as our selected venue with a few minor exceptions. This restaurant has a strictly German, Hungarian and Austrian (Viennese) style menu with a good variety of appetizers, salads and entrees. Our group included several children, however, there really was not a specific... More

Great little restaurant with wonderful atmosphere. We ordered the kaserspatsle and schweinebraten. The spatzle was cheesy and the thinly sliced fried onions on top complimented the creaminess of the dish beautifully. The pork loin was fork tender. We arrived for lunch on a Wednesday and we were seated immediately. There is an outside terrace, but we chose to sit indoors... More

Had reservations around 6:30. The entrance leads to an active bar area. It was crowded but not overly so. We were seated promptly. The wait staff was attentive and very helpful. I order three wursts and my wife had the schnitzel. My wursts were excellent and as good as I had in Germany. My wife said her schnitzel was good... More

Lunch with a world-class traveler at this very Vienese restaurant was a delight. Neither of our mates are wurst fans, but the two of us are true enthusiasts. We each had the lunch of zwei Wursten mit kraut, picking different varieties. One of his was the one with cheese and one of mine was a curry wurst. All four were... More

We were originally headed to Jack Stacks, but couldn't get in, so decided to try Grunauer next door. Im glad we did! Having just been to Vienna, I can say with some confidence that the food was an excellent estimation of hearty, filling Austrian fayre. The gulash with spätzle and a side of sauerkraut was delicious. There was also a... More

What a wonderful find in KC! True upscale Austrian food with wonderful hard to find Austrian wines and liquors. We were greeted warmly by Nicholas (he and his sister Elizabeth are the owners with input from their father Peter, who operated a restaurant in NY) upon arrival and given a wonderful table inside the restaurant. (The restaurant also has plenty... More

The salads were amazing as well as the sauerkraut and currywurst. The schnitzel was disappointing and the cheese plate did not feature Austrian or German cheeses. The atmosphere was beautiful and beer selection top notch. We spent a month in Germany and Austria last fall, Grunaure made us reminisce about our beautiful trip.
