Feeling nostalgic for German food we had dinner at Grunauer while celebrating our anniversary. It's location in the Cross Roads District makes dining on the patio a great experience, but without the crowds found in a popular BBQ restaurant next door. For those who've been to Austria or Germany you'll find all of the normal favorites on the menu and... More

A couple of our friends told us that this is their favorite restaurant in Kansas City, so we decided we had to try it. We are very glad we did! It's in the renovated "Freight House" just south of old Union Station. There is ample off-street parking just behind the building, so we could park and just walk in. I... More

On a prior visit, Dan wanted to take me here but for some reason I declined. Well, I'm glad I took him up on it this time! We had the pork belly as our appetizer. OMGosh! I could have had this as an entree'. This was simply amazing. I may need to try it myself at home. Dan had the... More

I wanted to try somewhere new while I was in town for Thanksgiving, so a friend and I decided to have dinner here. We both started off with the Der Schmutzige cocktail, it was pretty awesome. Very briney, and made perfectly. We also had the cheese platter, and salads (she had the beet one and I had asparagus). Lastly we... More

Had a fantastic German meal at Grunauer's. The Jaeger Schnitzel was superb! They have an extensive wine list & a great selection of beer. The wait staff was very helpful. Must have apple strudel!!

Another great visit to this restaurant with reminders of the wonderful tastes of Bavaria both in food and drink. We gathered together with friends and shared a large table to enjoy the drinks we once drank in our younger days and foods we ate in Gasthuas of Bavaria. The meals were outstanding and the plates were piled high so come... More

Wonderful food, great service and great atmosphere made this Sunday afternoon lunch most memorable. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and daily specials. The food was delicious and authentic Viennese cuisine. A very nice wine list was available as well. And, of course, the setting in the Freight House made for a warm, relaxed, yet refined... More

Had one of the Goulash dishes with Spaetzle. Had enough left for breakfast the next day. We've been all over Germany, Austria, Czech Rep, etc. This place is legit. And there is a respectable assortment of great bier from the region! I'm coming here again

Was visiting Kansas City for business conference and stumbled on this place when the wait at Jack Stack's was too long. What a great find! I loved the atmosphere and was pleased with the food and service. I had the Grunauer schnitzel stuffed with creamed spinach and loved it! I substituted the mashed potatoes for the cucumber potato salad and... More
