I had done some research before our trip to KC and had specifically chosen to have dinner at Grunauer's based on reviews and the photos on the website. It lived up to our expectations and FAR surpassed them! I would try to eat here once a week if we lived in KC! The rye bread on the tray brought before... More

I had never tried a German/Austrian restaurant before and this one did not disappoint. I had the Hofbrau Dunkel which was a wonderful beer. I'm not sure the sausage that I had with sauerkraut but that was also very good. The Jager Schnitzel I had was fantastic. Everything I had I had no complaints on and have since been recommending... I am a youngish single women traveling alone, popped in at five thirty or so after the WWI museum closed. Had the Kasesespatzle, which basically is the result of the best Mac and cheese you've ever had and tiny crispy onion rings having a long dirty weekend in Vienna. Absolw delicious. Was able to order from the full menu while... More

My husband and I are so glad we found Grunauer on our most recent visit to Kansas City. We had lunch there twice, and have told many friends about the delicious food and excellent service. The bandnudeln is an inspired blend of flavors, and the house-smoked salmon appetizer is to die for. The servers seem to genuinely care about going... More

I ate here for the first time on this trip. Wow! I had the Jäger Schnitzel Vom Schwein with a side of sauteed spinach and finished it off with an Apple Strudel that was the best I've ever eaten. You can eat indoors or outside on the patio (my choice). This will become a regular stop on my future trips... More

I recently had a business lunch at Grunauer and was not disappointed. The restaurant is tidy and clean, the architecture visually pleasing and the food perfect. The lunch menu is quite affordable for an upscale dining experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed a wonderful schnitzelsimmel with bacon. Excellent! I will be back!

I ate at Grunauer on July 1, 2014 and had their special Salzburger Schnitzel with a Hofbrau Dunkel. The schnitzel is pan sautéed which produces tender pork covered with a buttery/crispy coating. Inside, the pork cutlet is stuffed with a hearty and tasty combination of cheese and mushrooms. The dish is served with fresh mashed potatoes and red cabbage. For... More

I don't know what is authentic german or viennese food but what I had here I really liked. The flat iron steak was excellently cooked. The turnip puree was superb. The spaetzle's wonderful. My husband has a pork dish and it was also fabulous. Apple strudel was awesome. I would've given this 5 stars but the place has an old... More

Great food. Wonderful atmosphere. Good variety of beer, wine and cocktails. Although I was born in 80s, I am big fan of Schwarzenegger and ordering Australian Farmers meal made me feel like I am Austrian Oak!

My wife and I had dinner here Saturday night (June 28) with my parents. We had no reservations but were seated promptly anyway. None of us had eaten here before; as a matter of fact, we had intended on eating at Lidia's next door, but the Austrian fare at Grunauer just sounded better than Italian. And boy were we right,...
