We celebrated a family birthday with dinner at Stroud's Oak Ridge Manor in Kansas City, North recently. Really enjoyed the food, service, old-fashioned atmosphere and historic setting. The fried chicken and sides (homestyle green beans, choice of potatoes), and chicken livers are delicious. Other tasty items on the menu include salmon, pork chops and steaks. The homemade cinnamon rolls are... More

Like many, I hold my Grandmother's cooking to the highest regard. Stroud's was the first time I've eaten fried chicken that came close to rivaling Grandma's. They serve the side dishes family style. Our table was covered with bowls of mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, french fries, and most importantly, cinnamon biscuits. There was more food than half of us... More

We love the fried chicken and the chicken livers. Servings are huge so the price is reasonable for what you get. Always a doggie bag for a second dinner at home. Salads and dressings are excellent. They even give you cinnamon buns with your meal. Margarita was so so.

It is comfort food--fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, cinnamon rolls is what we had--but the timing, service was flawless, Full disclosure: we have an interest in a restaurant in a nearby town, but I hope our people will come down for a case study in a well-executed presentation. This is the first time in TA I have said... More

Every time we are in KC we go out of our way to get to this place. We had a 2 hour wait for a seat and it was well worth it. The meals are huge so a takeout box is a must. We had the chicken meal which is great and the sweet rolls are great. Will stop here... More

I went on a recommendation from a colleague when in the area for business. Chicken was good - not great - but the sides were outstanding. The green beans with chunks of chicken were delicious, as were the mashed potatoes. And the cinnamon rolls were great as well. Will definitely take my family there if they come out to KC... More

First off, the atmosphere is charming. The restaurant used to be an old plantation style house. There are 18 acres of grounds to explore. The staff was super friendly and the service was great. However, I certainly did not feel the food was worth the 102 check (tip included) It was very bland. Tasteless. My husband, who never salts anything,... More

We were told this was the best pan fried chicken around and we were not steered wrong. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, around 230p and waited about 45mins. They just opened at 2p and they place was already packed. Tasty and tender fried chicken, the best we have had. Sides were also good and the mashed potatoes with their... More

Waitress was fantastic. She made sure we had what we needed at all times. Food was fantastic. There is enough food to split between two people and two children. Wait time was over an hour. Only parties of 10 can be booked ahead of time.
