Great Spot!

What a great local restaurant - you've simply GOT to try it! We were visiting on a business trip and wanted to try out a local place. I was traveling with three Cajun food fans and this place came highly recommended. We were not disappointed. The service was great. They were fast and... read more

Jazz has been an institution in the KC area for decades. Located at the corner of 39th and State Line by KU Med Center, it evolved from the ashes of the former bar Jimmie's Jigger in the mid-80's. Jazz is cajun. They have a very extensive menu with all the traditionals like jambalaya, crawfish, red beans and rice, hush puppies,... More

We visit Jazz at least 5 times a year. Never had a bad meal or service. On the rare occasion they aren't on their game it's better than most. Portions are large ( half order is plenty) menu has great variety. I bring every visitor to KC here. Prices are reasonable. If you are visiting this is one place you... More

We had reservations for a large party. We thought the lively atmosphere would be fun. However, we were stuck down below the band behind the bar in what used to storage. The room was freezing (several guests didn't take off their coats)! I think to make up for the lack of heat in the room they added it to our... More

The food was just okay, nothing to write home about. After all, KC is hundreds of miles from the ocean so you can't expect your seafood to be fresh. The place is far to small to have loud live music, however, and we felt like we were completely crammed into our seats with people bumping into us every time someone... More

It had been a while since we dined at the Jazz, too many other new places, some times it is just better to stay with what you liked in the first place. Chicken Ala Mare still as good as it ever was. Hint Tuesday evenings it is 1/2 price special. It just cant be beat. Chicken Breast topped with Ala... More

I travel weekly. I spent several months after Katrina in New Orleans. Jazz is as close to bourbon street as you will get in the midwest. Great place to eat. We drive the 60 miles often to eat there. Wife and Kids enjoy the shopping area also.

I was told this was a great place for good food, but I was a little disappointed. I think this place is more for the locals. The food and service was just basic. My drink was strong which I guess was a plus. I will probably not chose to return to this restaurant unless I am persuaded by a group,... More

We have been going for years to this restaurant but never will go again! We mad an reservation for 14 for my husbands birthday at 6:30 on Friday, November 7. We had planned on having a great time with family. The band that was playing was so LOUD that we could not even talk to the person next to you!... More
