The staff are a bunch of hipsters that are very proud of themselves. The food is nothing special. When you want to have prices that compete with other top restaurants in town then you need to perform to the level. This place does not plain and simple.

I had the stuffed quail that wrapped in a cabbage. Delicious and beautiful dish. Quail was perfectly cooked and moist. I will be back.

Our dinner experience exceeded our expectations. Seated promptly. We elected to sit outside since it was a perfect July night. Service was spot on. We started with a cocktail off their menu which was outstanding. Then split a btl of wine over dinner. Seared foi grais app was awesome. Melt in your mouth delicious. Salad presentation (pic attached) and flavor... More

Three of us ate here on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday. Two of us has the Jaegerschnitzel with a salad and spaetzle and the other had Wienerschnitzel with a potato side dish. Each entrée was wonderful with a tasty mushroom sauce. We shared a quark (german cheese) dessert that included raspberry ice cream and each of us remarked... More

Came here for lunch recently. I have avoided it because I heard it was "contemporary" German food and I prefer another KC place, Grunauer, for my German/Austrian fare. Came here at a friend's suggestion and it was good. I had a beet/orange salad to start, which was nice. For entree I had a vegetarian plate with red cabbage, sauerkraut, and... More

Had a great Fathers Day/ 16th Birthday Brunch at Affare. Each of our party of four ordered something different so we could get a better sampling of the menu. We had: Roasted Pork/ Steak & Eggs/Jaegerschnitzel (reccommended)/ Kaiserschmarrn (German pancakes). Each item was very good and appeared to have been made when ordered not mass produced then doled out. Presentation... More

We met friends at Affare on First Friday, which meant we struggled through insane traffic and detours due to a race of some sort (what kind of person wants have a run during rush hour?). I was regretting our decision to go to the Crossroads and wishing we had chosen Cusina della Ragazza instead, but the food made it all... More

There for Mothes Day brunch. Small over-priced portions that took a very long time to arrive even though they weren't very busy. Daughter & Son ordered pancakes for $12, plus a Side of bacon for additional $6 & late. They r both still hungry after an $18 meal?? And the Bottomless "mimosa" at $12 was a joke, 90% OJ. However,... Our pre-opera dinner at Affare was part of a package through the Kaufman Center opera. KCMO. Two couples for 5PM, and we notified our server that we needed to be done by the 6:30 opera docent talk. (Had also notified them of that through our Open Table reservation made a month prior). We were the only ones there at 5PM... More

Brunch on Sunday with a friend and the hubs. We were seated promptly which was a good thing since there wen't many diners in the restaurant. Ambience was nice. However, with so few diners, it was hard to hear across the table due to the openness/high ceilings. Food: The selection was interesting and not typical for a brunch. I liked... More
