I came here at the recommendation of a friend who loves it. I had the soup du jour, which was butternut squash and was quite delicious. The sandwich I had was Asian pulled pork with home made kimchi. It was good, although I might have enjoyed it more without the kimchi. Still this is a fine place. I had an... More

Best biscuits and gravy ever. ...fresh...fresh ingredients make a huge difference. The grits with rib eye were off the chart tasty and perfect on a cold Dec day. We will be back

My wife and I have been visiting local spots for breakfast and Happy Gillis was at the top of our list. I had the biscuits and gravy and my wife had a breakfast sandwich. Both were outstanding! We loved that we could buy and bring home the coffee mugs. The spot had a very small town feel to it as... More

We are out of towners, was hoping for brunch but only lunch was available. The date grilled cheese was good but the bloody Mary's were just ok. The soup of the day was just ok. Cute place but wouldn't race back.

I just ate at Happy Gillis the first time since it sold. The new owner kept the fresh savory favorites and made them better. The new owner is present and really making this long time favorite even more authentic. I had a grilled sandwich that was mostly non-meat proteins and vegetables. The flow and layout of the tables and drink... More

My brother recommended "Happy Gillis," so we decided to make it our Sunday morning breakfast destination during our last K.C. visit. While it was different than what we'd expected, we really weren't disappointed! The little waitress with her green hair was very helpful and friendly, as were all the staff we talked to. The breakfast sandwich was excellent -- and... More

Very small menu (about 6 sandwiches and 2 salads) but everything was extremely fresh and their flavor combinations were amazing! Looks like a dive, but don't let that fool you! Great food, Definitely should give it a try!

This location may not be in the most happening part if the town none-the-less it was a great find. I had a mushroom panini (I am a veggie) which tasted really amazing along with chips and homemade walnut chocolate cookie. It is a great place for the organic aficionado. In one short line great way to start your day. I... More

We love this place. Most of the ingredients are from local farms, dairy farms, butchers, etc.. The food is excellent. There are some uniques combinations but they always work. The place is small, but somehow it all woks out. We have neve had a bad meal there. If you want quick or cookie cutter go to Chili's or Wendy's. If... More

Having the internet in the palm of my hand made me very happy, because we were able to find Happy Gillis for a lunch stop during a long road trip. The food at Happy Gillis is fresh, prepared from scratch, locally sourced, and delicious! We had a pork confit sandwich, salad of the day and soup of the day. The... More
