Very small menu (about 6 sandwiches and 2 salads) but everything was extremely fresh and their flavor combinations were amazing! Looks like a dive, but don't let that fool you! Great food, Definitely should give it a try!

This location may not be in the most happening part if the town none-the-less it was a great find. I had a mushroom panini (I am a veggie) which tasted really amazing along with chips and homemade walnut chocolate cookie. It is a great place for the organic aficionado. In one short line great way to start your day. I... More

We love this place. Most of the ingredients are from local farms, dairy farms, butchers, etc.. The food is excellent. There are some uniques combinations but they always work. The place is small, but somehow it all woks out. We have neve had a bad meal there. If you want quick or cookie cutter go to Chili's or Wendy's. If... More

Having the internet in the palm of my hand made me very happy, because we were able to find Happy Gillis for a lunch stop during a long road trip. The food at Happy Gillis is fresh, prepared from scratch, locally sourced, and delicious! We had a pork confit sandwich, salad of the day and soup of the day. The... More

Although hard to find if you don't know the area - it's worth the search. Great sandwich and soup for lunch. Seating a little limited in the cold weather. I'd go back again!!!!

This is one of the best breakfast spots in all of Kansas City. The food is excellent as is the service and the atmosphere cannot be beat. The biscuits and gravy were excellent, but the breakfast BLT was unreal. The bacon was thick and tasty, the tomatoes were thick and juicy, and the bread was great as well. It is... More

I visited Happy Gillis with a co-worker for lunch. My ham and cheese sandwich was actually very good. It has a nice mustard and honey taste and was truly delicious. The place is small with only a few tables and the decor is rather twilight-zonish with some old antique plates on the wall and a strange pea-soup green paint on... More

I read a ton of reviews on this place before dragging my family to it while on vacation in Kansas City. Do NOT waste your time. And I mean that literally. The time we invested on getting four sandwiches was UNREAL. The place is cute enough and I had high expectations walking in...well...walking up to the door that is as... More

Was recommended by an antiques dealer near the City Market. We love places like this, with loads of atmosphere, and very good food. Don't come if you're in a hurry, while the cafe was only somewhat busy, our food took a while. But once it arrived, we loved it. Two in our party had the breakfast sandwich, while I and... More
