I was so excited to eat at Julian since Chef Tio created one of the most memorable meals of my life while at her stint at The American. Now, I knew this was not meant to be the same type of experience, but I was still excited to see her take on more casual fare. The restaurant is quaint, with... More

We absolutely love Julian! After half a dozen visits, we have consistently gotten great meals as well remarkably friendly service in a comfortable atmosphere. The food is amazing, the drinks top notch and you can come in your street clothes without feeling like anyone is looking down at you.

If you don't think you can afford fabulous food you need to eat at Julian in Brookside, Missouri. The chef is personable and accommodating. Try the Sunday night "special." You choose three or four courses and she cooks you a wonderful meal based on foods in season. I have never been disappointed. Also, sometimes I am hesitant to ask a... More

Almost worth 5 stars. Almost. First heard of this restaurant through some of Chef Celina Tio's appearances on TV, and decided to try it on our trip through Kansas City last year. Imagine our surprise when this celebrity chef was seating customers! (Also sweeping the floor, washing dishes, . . .) Ate there twice on that one trip--both times were... More

This restaurant has been uneven since day one. It seems to be having problems growing up. In a normal workday the flow of service was bumpy. They forgot to bring bread and the plate in the coffee service was not clean. It is a pity, because they have some dishes with imagination and the outside patio in a good summer... More

Six of us dined on a Sunday for the family style fixed menu. Diners can choose 3 or 4 courses. We chose all four and were glad we did. We had an excellent meal: duck fried rice, green salad with almonds, trout filet with summer vegetables and pound cake with strawberries & whipped cream. Portions were satisfying. Everything was prepared... More

The mussels were excellent. My husband loved the oysters so much he had 2 servings. A judging chef from Chopped was at the restaurant signing her new cookbook and walking among the tables talking to the customers. It was a nice thing to do. A great location in Brookside, not far from the Plaza.

What a wonderful cozy restaurant with delicious food and terrific service. I have dined there on two occasions for lunch during the business week, and both times were great experiences. For anyone interested in high end food in a comfortable environment, I'd highly recommend you try Julian. It won't disappoint.

Friendly staff, promptly seated. Great waitress with good timing. The food was delicious. And, the chef/owner stopped by our table to check on us. We had the cauliflower soup and the house salad. Both were exceptional. For main courses, we had the scallops (which were fresh and perfectly cooked) and the beef with crispy risotto cake. Both were superb. This... More

Small restaurant in Brookside. Wine list with some good finds. Homemade pretzel sticks with gouda sauce were great. Also tried the homemade sausage which I enjoyed. Tried the imported italian pasta, pork belly, chicken confit and pork shoulder. Everyone at table had great things to say about their meals. We decided to try panna cotta and bread pudding for dessert,... More
