As many BBQ places go, it is rustic themed. Not new or exciting but a good BBQ. Bar on one side with tables and other side is a small dining room. Wait staff is good and attentive. Usually busy but worth a stop. Nice BBQ 1/2 (huge) or full size chef salads.

The food is great. Will definately pay with cash if we choose to eat at this restaurant again. We left a cash tip for the server... a week later I found the card receipt in my purse, and was charged for an additional tip :( Called the management team and was told the server should have told me she added... I read about the food in a magazine several months ago, so when the opportunity came to travel to Joplin, I said "YES" send me to Joplin to get the job done. I arrived during lunch time and parked in front of a building that looked pretty run down (It proves you cannot tell the book from it's cover). Inside... More

I hadn't been to this restaurant in quite some time and was looking forward to eating what I remembered as good barbeque. However, I quickly found out that it had changed greatly. Last time I visited Big R's was when I was probably 12 or 13 (6 years ago), and I remembered the food was EXCELLENT. I visited Big R's... More

My wife & I recently tried Big R's for the first time. We went for lunch and were promptly seated. The restaurant even for lunch was 80-90% full. Our waitress was very attentive & outgoing. We ordered their fried mushrooms for an appetizer. These were the BEST fried mushrooms my wife & I have ever had! My wife then ordered... More

If you like casual dining, rustic atmosphere, fantastic food, and the best pie in the Four States, you have found the place. This is one of those locally-owned places you want to eat at when in Joplin. Don't miss it and bring friends or family for a fun time. I've eaten here since it opened and never been disappointed.

Enjoyed lunch at Big R's ... Had ribs, but they were small and even though tasty, not much meat on them. Four of us were eating and there was enough food for at least eight, if you counted the huge amount of the fries they serve. A piece of pie was enough for two to share and very good. Yum!... More

Solid BBQ, I've had better but this place was very good. I had pulled pork sandwich and fries. The other diners at my table had a variety of other dishes. Everything we had was good. Prices were higher than alot of BBQ places I've been to recently, but the large portion prices justify the higher prices. I also enjoyed the... More

One receives a tremendous amount of food at Big R's. Although it is pretty good, the brisket and pork were a little dry. The baked beans and potato salad (mustard) were excellent. My ice tea was served in a very large mason jar, which was unique. If you like a room surrounded by Sixties items and scattered about in a... More

We have eaten at Big R's about three times. The first was a group of 8 and the last two times just two of us. The food has always been delivered quickly and hot. An order of the onion rings and fries are enough to serve a couple and maybe even up to four people, We have had sandwiches and... More
