Prison Brews was opened in 2007 in a part of town that once housed the state penitentiary and is now experiencing residential / commercial re-growth. This has become a popular brewery with wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, etc. It has completely embraced the "prison" kitsch feel with bars between the bar & dining area and pictures of the 1800's penitentiary historical artifact lining the walls. The menu items and beers on tap are also incorporated into the theme. There is a large dining area as well as large outdoor seating on the adjacent patio complete with bocce ball. A unique experience in a growing area of town.

Cool vibe, good eats!

This is a cool place! Converted old prison/diary; we ate at the bar and our food was served to us via the prison cell bars. I had a super yummy house salad and added grilled chicken. Friend had wood fired pizza. Tap brews were good and prices are reasonable. Recommend!

Love the prison vibe. Great micro brew beers and also has full bar. Be sure to try the flight of micro beers. Wood grilled pizzas are great. Good food and fun atmosphere. Has bands on some nights

Love the set up. The booths are set up like your sitting in a prison cell. Huge menu selection. I went with the Reuben and fries. Huge portion. Struggle to finish the menu. I will be back.

The atmosphere is great and they have an outdoor area with games. The beer boiled shrimp were huge and delicious. The Buffalo chicken dip was very rich and good. The catfish was nice and crispy and the garlic fries are fantastic. The cole slaw was the best I have had at a restaurant. I had the Wardens Winter Brew which... More

The filet was spot on and had a great flavor. The beer was better then most commercial beer. I'll return.

The food was good and reasonable. The place was fun after having visited the state prison. It was recommended by the warden during the tour.

It's a small brewery restaurant with a prison theme. The booths are built to look like cells and there are little details here and there related to jail. Didn't try the beer, but had a great salad. My family had sandwiches, seems like everyone enjoyed their meal.

I thought the Brown Ale was outstanding. I was a little disappointed with my Portabello sandwich, it was soggy and should've been more flavor filled. It was just ok. The potato salad was really tasty.

Great place with a cool atmosphere! Is a micro brew with several good tasting beers and as well as great food with great prices.. I had the Rueben which was excellent. The restaurant is designed with a prison theme with bars around the bar and tables (the bathrooms are the gas chambers). There is an outside patio that would be... More
