Best food in Salema

I went to Salema with my family when I was 14, we were walking around the city, looking for a place to eat. We saw this cute little place right on the beach. We sat down and were fed the best food in Portugal. I would recommend the clams. They are amazing.

My husband and I visited this restaurant in late September and we were happy to find place to eat right by the sea. As usual most of those places with great locations are not very good, simply they do not have to try hard to run the business as into comprising to places hidden away. We have ordered starters and... Fish stew yummy on the first visit. Not so great the next time. We were the first to be served one evening so service was fine. The next visit was a complete change. Waitress, owner, person who served us was a complete indifferent human. We will never go back. My latest policy is to always dine in a Portuguese owned... More

Issue with many of the restaurants in salema is nothing ever changes. The menus are the same year after year and get a bit boring. This place has its core dishes then a blackboard of specials. Every meal I have had here has been great. Particularly the seafood rice. It gets very busy and you can't book but to my... More

My husband and I had a wonderful fish stew at Mira Mar, but the service was bad. We were completely ignored. Our food took one hour to arrive. Everyone around us finished eating and left. After we completed the main course, we sat for 35 minutes. We moved the wine bucket, bread basket and other items to the table next... More

We discovered this restaurant a few years ago and just love it. Don't expect to book and only go when the weather is good. But the house prawns and especially the spaghetti with prawns are just delicious. With a jug of wine or a couple or large beers, the sun setting over the beach and great food it's almost paradise.....

We visited Salema on a spur of the moment and enjoyed an evening stroll along the lovely sandy beach before our thoughts turned to food. The No1 restaurant on Trip Advisor for Selema was already fully booked (happily everyone seems speaks perfect English when phoning restaurants in Portugal) and so we took a chance on getting a table at Mira... One of my favourite beachside restaurants. Non pretentious, friendly, great value for money delicious food in an unhurried and relaxed atmosphere. Even the simplest of meals is lovingly prepared and presented. To me its the complete package.

The food was delicious, however there were very limited vegetarian options (four cheese pasta or lasagne). Chose the lasagne, and it was really lovely but would have liked a wider choice. Gambas for two were shared by my parents, and they loved it. Sautéed potatoes were disappointing- par boiled and tossed lightly in a pan with some salt and spices.... More

Within two hours of landing at Faro Airport we were sitting at our table at the lovely little restaurant. We met up with Becky's parents and the four of us ordered lunch. I had seafood with squid ink linguine and the other three had spaghetti clams. The linguine was really tasty and the seafood was so flavoursome and obviously fresh.... More
