Not much is open past 8pm in Hermann. We headed to the restaurant and we're surprised by the decor. Enclosed vestibule area which opened into the smoking section of a bar. The smoking section is up a step and inside. Workers don't wear shirts with the restaurant name. Food was great and plentiful. Guacamole was a light color and more... More

Finding a mexican restaurant in a small town like Hermann was a big surprise and the food was on par as well. Nothing exceptional that you will remember for a long time but not to bad either. They have a lunch buffet which one can go for or a la carte. Depends on your hunger level :) Food Taste &... More

The chips were stale and greasy. The food wasn't anything special. The atmosphere was dingy and outdated. The service was good.

Most people come to Hermann for the German atmosphere. However, if you're a local you don't give two cents about German and all you want is good food at a decent price. El Ranchito has a crummy building. Kind of a real dump that will flood in the event of a flash flood on Frene Creek. However, the food is... More

Only thing that kept me from rating it excellent was the margarita prices. $7.99 for a medium seemed a tad steep bc it was just average tasting. However the food was all very good and reasonably priced. Wed apparently is taco night and they were only $1 each. The side of rice was huge and some of softest best mexican... More

On our last night in Hermann, Sunday night, most everything was closed. Friends recommended EL Ranchito. We shy away from the run of the mill Tex-Mex places that seem to be Xeroxed versions of one another but wanted to eat, sit, & talk. The young man who waited on us was really friendly & the menu offered some atypical options.... More

I really wanted this place to be better, but I guess that's what I get for choosing a Mexican restaurant in a German town.

Got a taste for Mexican? Wait until you get home, because this restaurant could leave a bad taste in your mouth, and could be the only disappointment in an otherwise lovely visit to beautiful Hermann, Missouri. El Ranchito is located in a tacky shack-like building on the highway. Local servers do an adequate job, but the recipes are very mediocre.... More

I live in San Diego and know what Mexican food can be. This ain't it!! I suggest you make your own or try your grocer's canned or frozen selections. The food is less than mediocre and overpriced and the service rises to the level of average. Save your money and hit up a Taco Bell.

Nice waiters/waitresses but everything else was lacking including the atmosphere, cleanliness, and food. They even admitted to re-heating food when I asked for pork tacos instead of beef. While I got my pork, I knew it wasn't fresh :(
