Stopped just before noon. Seated quickly. I ordered the Mark Twain Chicken. Server told me it would take 25-30 minutes. That was fine. I ordered a breast and leg, with mashed potatoes and green beans. My food was served in about 30 minutes and the chicken was piping hot and worth the wait. The potatoes were fine. The green beans... We were referred to the diner by a friend. The service was great as well as the food. My Grandsons enjoyed the homemade root beer. We returned later in the day for some ice cream and to purchase 1 gallon of their rootbeer to take home. I recommend this restaurant

We chose the Mark Twain Fried Chicken...and it was delicious...as was the Mississippi Mud Pie...YUM!! We split the meal and dessert and were quite full. The waitress was super, quick with a come back quip...which made us feel right at home.

I have been a life long resident of Hannibal and have eaten here many times. My mother also grew up here and this was one her and her friends favorite places to eat as teenagers. The maid rites and root beer, which they are famous for used to be delicious, however, I recently took a friend of mine who was... More

My husband and I have been here 3 times and have enjoyed our meals every time. Once it was with a group and every one of them said their meal was good. I had a french dip that was one of the better I've ever had. The last time we were there was for breakfast and again, we were not... More

Even though we go to Hannibal regularly, we had never tried the dinette. We arrived just as the lunch crowd was finishing, but only had to wait a couple of minutes. The French dip was excellent, and the cajun pork tenderloin was well prepared, but could have used a little more seasoning. If there was a flaw in our food,... More

At first glance this looked like a decent enough place to eat. Looks were deceptive. I ordered the grilled Cajun Chicken breast sandwich. Tiny piece of meat on a nondescript bun with no seasoning of any kind. Someone else ordered the fried pork cutlet. Huge piece of dry over cooked shoe leather. Fries were mush. The only passable thing we're... More

This is a local diner that has a root bear mug as a marker outside which catches your eye. After visiting the museums we needed to get something to eat before we headed back to St. Louis. I am so glad that we stopped here and ate. The food was wonderful with a real home style feeling. The servers were... More

I really wanted to like this place, but it just wasn't that good. I ordered a pork tenderloin sandwich, and though the pork was HUGE!!, there just wasn't much flavor to it, which was sad because I love pork tenderloin sandwiches. Our service was pretty poor as well. The server was young, and nice enough but wasn't very good at... More
