We asked a local for where they would go for dinner and they suggested Ole Planters. We could not have been happier. The restaurant had been there for years and its decor suggested this in a charming way. The dinners were a mix of locals and visitors. The dinning was homestyle and yummy. The meats were cooked to yummy perfection just like mom would do. As we were eatting the cook was bringing out freshly made pies which tasted as good as they smelled. One of the customers wanted to buy the entire pie it was so good. We loved Hannibal and this was the perfect restaurant to top off a day of traveling back in time and enjoying Main Street USA and the Mississippi as Tom Sawyer and his friends might have.

A quick place to eat if you get the daily special.

We stopped here on a Saturday and ordered the BBQ pork and BBQ beef dinner plates. I recommend the beef over the pork, but my husband did like the pork. My daughter ordered the lasagna and ate the veggies instead of the main entree. The veggies were really good (red potatoes, sweet corn, great... read more

On a friends trip, we did a short stop over in Hannibal. This restaurant was suggested at the visitor center. The tenderloin was absolutely wonderful!! They were known for specialty pies and they were very disappointing.

Lunch here was actually a highlight of the day. The server welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home, and the building is interesting. The food was delicious! The pork barbecue was tasty, but I liked the vegetables even more! The price is more than reasonable. Don't miss this restaurant.

Disappointing food. All seemed frozen, even the veggie sides! Service was ok, atmosphere was nice, but food was frozen and not very good at all

Although I didn't walk out hungry, I would have to say very average food. I has BBQ pork. My friend had a catfish sandwich in which the thin piece of fish was overwhelmed by the large bun. The service was great but I was just a little disappointed by the food.

We hadn't been to Hannibal for a few years so we stopped for lunch while on the way to St. Louis. The menu choices are tradition comfort foods including BBQ. The pulled pork dinner was very good. My wife's catfish, however, had so much breading that it overpowered the fish. The most unique part was the three vegetables served with... More

Our first stop on a short visit of Hannibal...Ole Planters provided a great value and delicious comfort food. When on special, the meatloaf/meatloaf sandwich is fantastic. The restaurant's location on a historical strip of Main Street across from the Mark Twain Home and Grant's Pharmacy adds to the charm of this small eatery.

I wish I could get some fries with one of the better burgers in town. Meatloaf is great, BBQ is good.

The chicken fried steak was enjoyed by everyone else at my table. IT'S BIG! I had a big salad that was so fresh, with their house dressing. We all enjoyed the ambience, like eating in Grandma's home with old wallpaper and interesting photos and art on the wall. The staff was very friendly. Pleasant dining.

My wife went to the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. The special was smoked pork or beef with red potatoes, green beans, corn, and bread. It was priced less than $9! The meat, though lathered in sauce, was exceptionally smokey, especially the pork. The green beans had a touch of vinegar, creating a unique, appealing taste, different from the common... More
