We asked a local for where they would go for dinner and they suggested Ole Planters. We could not have been happier. The restaurant had been there for years and its decor suggested this in a charming way. The dinners were a mix of locals and visitors. The dinning was homestyle and yummy. The meats were cooked to yummy perfection just like mom would do. As we were eatting the cook was bringing out freshly made pies which tasted as good as they smelled. One of the customers wanted to buy the entire pie it was so good. We loved Hannibal and this was the perfect restaurant to top off a day of traveling back in time and enjoying Main Street USA and the Mississippi as Tom Sawyer and his friends might have.

Good BBQ Beef

Ate lunch here with mom and sisters. Food was pretty good, but they were short on help (and fortunately let us know). BBQ beef dinner was a hit with me.

This was recommended to us by a native. The bar-be-que beef was awful. This side dishes were average. My mother ordered the pie and it wasn't very good. They had just finished serving a bus load of people and some of them remarked that it was very good as they were leaving. Maybe they had run out of the best... More

We just got into town didn't really know the area and decided to have lunch here. We each had a turkey sandwich with chips, costing us $20. I believe that this place only gets one time customers, because one time is enough. The only good thing I have to say about this place was the service was okay.

Our server was lovely and all smiles, and my girls enjoyed playing I Spy with the old knick knacks on the shelves while we waited for our lunch, but the food was average at best. The BBQ pork was recommended, but I was disappointed that it had a strong liquid smoke/artificial taste. My mom's corned beef was dry and no... More

When I worked in Hannibal, this was one of our favorite places to go. The pan fried tenderloin sandwich on a hoagie with Provolone cheese served with potato chips and pickle. BBQ sauce, tomatoes and onions on the table. Finish it off with a slice of homemade pie and you're all set. You have to experience it for yourself!

We stopped here on a Saturday and ordered the BBQ pork and BBQ beef dinner plates. I recommend the beef over the pork, but my husband did like the pork. My daughter ordered the lasagna and ate the veggies instead of the main entree. The veggies were really good (red potatoes, sweet corn, great beans). We only had to wait... More

On a friends trip, we did a short stop over in Hannibal. This restaurant was suggested at the visitor center. The tenderloin was absolutely wonderful!! They were known for specialty pies and they were very disappointing.

Lunch here was actually a highlight of the day. The server welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home, and the building is interesting. The food was delicious! The pork barbecue was tasty, but I liked the vegetables even more! The price is more than reasonable. Don't miss this restaurant.

Disappointing food. All seemed frozen, even the veggie sides! Service was ok, atmosphere was nice, but food was frozen and not very good at all

Although I didn't walk out hungry, I would have to say very average food. I has BBQ pork. My friend had a catfish sandwich in which the thin piece of fish was overwhelmed by the large bun. The service was great but I was just a little disappointed by the food.
