A great choice of foods, including a signature beef short ribs dish that is cooked for many hours. The wine list reflects the owner's taste which includes many heavy bodied pinot noirs with none that are fruity like an Oregon. However that appears to be the owners preferences. Great salads and dessert choices also.

We were in Columbia visiting the hospital on an emergency and were looking for a place for dinner. We met a couple on the street who recommended Sycamore and so we tried it. Glad we did.

Visitors to Columbia are given a lot a decent choices in downtown dining and Sycamore deserves to be at-or-near the top-of-the list. Our meals were well prepared and inventive and the atmosphere was very inviting, invoking restaurant experiences in much larger cities. The service was very good and we left well satisfied. We stayed in Columbia as a base for... More

Four of us met for a business dinner here. The menu had many great choices; I chose the braised short ribs which were tender & delicious. For dessert I had a rhubarb pistachio cornbread upside down cake - sounded interesting, tasted awesome. Service was professional and attentive but not intrusive. Loved the atmosphere, too. It was a little more expensive... More

First of all, I consider myself a foodie. I have been to everywhere in Italy, France and lots of Asian countries. My mission is: Life is short, have a good meal I have living in Columbia MO for over 5 years now. I have been to almost every single restaurant in the town. Before visiting this restaurant last weekend, CC's... More

One of our favorite downtown places. Quiet comfortable but leisurely pace of lunchtime service and menu hasn't changed in a couple of years so you don't want it to be a daily hangout. Food is imaginative and very high quality and the wine&beer selection impressive and wellpriced. We had invited friends to join us for lunch and they appeared just... More

This is an absolute gem in the Columbia, MO restaurant offerings. Unique menu with locally supplied meats and ingredients. Plus a beer menu that will amaze; service that is attentive, yet understated; and desserts which will make you wish you started your meal with one.

We arrived early for a weeknight dinner after a long work day - greeting from the hostess and server was upbeat and professional and warm. Seating at a white tablecloth deuce was pleasant; ambience was easy and not too loud. We tried the signature parmesan crusted fries as a starter - good, but not crisp enough - the house made... More

My family was in town for my daughters graduation from Westminster college and my wife's birthday happened to be the next day. I wanted a special cake for my wife and contacted the owner of Sycamore to see if it could be done. The cake was a German chocolate cake that her mother would make for her and she had... More

We have been to Sycamore several times over the past few years but the most recent time was by far the best in part because the menu seems to have expanded (modestly - but sufficiently). The beet salad was excellent as were the mussels. The pork chop was enormous but incredibly well done and cooked perfectly and the rest of... More
