Yum,Yum Breakfast

We try to seek local eateries while traveling. Ernie's was just what the doctor ordered on our Friday morning in Columbia! My wife and I enjoyed a couple of eggs, toast, sausage & coffee for under ten bucks. Service was friendly & quick. Diner décor is really cool with lots of Dick Tracy... read more

Previously a very nice place to breakfast in columbia MO. Always packed and with a nice flair, something has changed in this place. After a very long time our order came back, and food was really not special, plain average. A service also on the downwards. Not going back...

if you're looking for diner food, especially breakfast, this is a good place to get food. it's not the flair or tastiness of Cafe Berlin a few blocks away, but it's the tried and true breakfast cafe. it's a plate of good scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and endless coffee. not many seats and when you find a seat, it's packed... We always visit Ernie's when we're in town. The Number 11 breakfast is my favorite - a ton of good food (2 eggs done your way, 2 meat, a pile of hashbrowns and a short stack or french toast) for a great price. It's a tiny place, so prepare to sit at the counter or wait for a table during... More

My downfall is cheeseburgers. I know a good one and the cheeseburger I had today at Ernies was awesome! I had a 1/3 pound cheese burger with Swiss cheese and bacon on a soft bun with fries today that was worth every calorie! The cheese burger came with a side of bbq sauce which was also nice. The burger and... More

This is a true diner. It is very small so the wait can be long, we sat at the counter so it was not too bad. Food was ok, my wife went to college in Columbia and she remembered the biscuits and gravy being better back then. Overall it was a good experience.

This is probably one of Como's best breakfast places. I've had it all here and have yet to not like anything I ordered. All cooked the way I asked it to be. The last visit I had Scrambled soft eggs and sausage, hash browns and toast. Was very good. Just note, this is a small place and the wait can... More

If you're looking for a non-chain restaurant for breakfast, check out Ernie's. I try to go before 930am on weekends to avoid a long wait. It's a small diner type of restaurant. You can't beat the prices. Bob Evans is my favorite breakfast in town but it's a chain so if you want some place local I would recommend Ernie's.

The service and food are very good at Ernie's in downtown Columbia. Unless you are VERY hungry, do not order the full biscuits/gravy; the half portion is four biscuits and loads of sausage gravy. My eggs were cooked to perfection. My spouse's waffle was reported to be outstanding, and he's rather a waffle snob. The tea is upscale, i.e., not... More
