Ah, Christmas time. That special time of year when you really feel for servers at anywhere food is concerned. Office parties, relatives coming in, old friends really not wanting to cook. Nerves get frayed. And sometimes the quality of the food suffers, especially anywhere near a shopping center. Which is EXACTLY where you find House of Chow, in a strip... More

Lunched there today, spouse had beef with broccoli which she really enjoyed, I had stir fried cashew chicken, also very good. both had white rice, egg roll, wonton soup, and tea. Very pleasant meal with good service and moderate price. Next time we're ln Columbia we'll go back. Check their hours before going.

My wife wanted to try this restaurant after hearing a recommendation from a coworker. The overall restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere with piano as compared to most greasy Chinese takeout/buffet places. We were seated promptly. Overall it was an "okay" meal for the most part. I had the pineapple fried rice, which was uniquely served in a hollowed out half... More

Several friends met at House of Chow for a birthday celebration last night (a busy Friday evening). We had at least 8 different entrees that included vegetarian, seafood, chicken and beef dishes. All were pronounced "excellent". All plates were not cleaned only because half of us had more than we could eat at one sitting and took home enough for... More

My husband and I stopped impromptu in Columbia to avoid a storm. I had the Cashew Chicken with plum sauce and he had the Moo Shu combo. Both were very good. We had lots of meat and enough to take home for lunch the next day. We also had the special tea for 4 - peach. It had the flower... More

This used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant. It seems the menu as well as food quality has changed since it was redone. Service was very slow as there was one waitress for entire restaurant. We waited for our soup to be told it was given to someone else. Our egg drop soup, when we finally received it, was terrible,... More

Placed an order for pick-up and was told it would take 35 minutes. I went to pick my order and was told it would be another 25 minutes. I decided to wait and wonder around the dollar tree next store, and when I came back I had to wait another 10 minutes while they checked on my order, only to... More

The General Taos is the best version I've had. Generally top notch. I've read some comments about the weekend piano. Personally I love it... esp during the winter.

This used to be my favorite restaurant for Chinese food in Columbia. Not tonight. New Year's Eve. Got the House lo mein....one. shrimp. ONE. Also purchased the "Happy Family" which is one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. Supposed to have seafood galore......ONE scallop....sliced, deceptively so, in half. That's it. Greasy, overdone lo mein. The best part was... More

Good food and service but hard to hear each other with the piano playing very loud. Also seemed to have an eclectic play list for September, we thought we were in a Quintin Taratino movie.
