Grew up going to the one in Overland Park, KS. Would always get the gallon of rootbeer to take home. Visited one afternoon last week and ordered a float to go. Guess I should have said to stay and maybe I would have got it served in a frosty mug like I remember! Great float though.

My husband grew up loving this drive-in so we have to eat there at least a couple of times each time we visit his family. They serve a loose-beef sandwich, like a sauceless sloppy joe. I prefer the chili cheese buns. It's always packed out w/people.

When visiting Columbia, we always stop in at Mugs Up for the BEST Rootbeer! This place is straight out of an Americana museum… an old-fashioned drive-in with home-cooked food.

Great food! Love the Zipburgers, chili cheese dogs, chili cheese fries, & root beer floats. Plus the fun of a drive-in.

I have lived in Columbia my entire life and had never been to Mugs Up. I finally tried it out and ordered a chili cheese dog. It was amazing! I'm picky about chili cheese dogs, but this was one of the best I have ever had! Everyone has always told me how amazing this place is, and now that I... More

Mugs Up is my favorite real drive in! I've only ever had the cheese zip w/everything. They are so good I don't want to try anything else! Sometimes I'm so hungry I think I can eat 2 but then the first one fills me up. Always good reheated in the microwave tho! The price is great too. Root Beer Floats... More

If you have never been to a Mugs Up Drive In you have missed a great treasure form the 50's and 60's. This is one of only two that I know of that are still in operation. The other is in Independence, MO. At one time there were many units located around the greater Kansas City area. They were a... More

Delicious, greasy, very old school drive-up. If I hadn't grown up with it I would probably be frightened by the appearance, but trust me if you want greasy drive- up food this is the place.

Rather than explaining to younger folk what a drive in WAS Mugs Up allows to show them was a drive in IS. It's a classic with true carhops, hang on the window trays, and a traditional menu: homemade root beer, good fries, and great hot dogs. Add chili to just about anything :-). It's good food and good fun.
