They upped their game!

When this first opened they had many problems...should never have called themselves Balabans since some of us dined there often & loved it. I don't know if they've changed chefs but after ignoring it for close to a year, we decided to give this neighborhood choice another try & we've now been back... read more

My daughter and I stopped by for dinner. While they do have some of the old recipes from the other restaurant, the two are really not connected. We each had a 1/2 salad.ine was the shaved asparagus salad w greens, parm and pancetta. Delicious and beautifully prepared. The flatbread was really good and the crab cakes were spectacular. Great flavor... More

We went to Balaban's because we had frequently went by it and it seemed like an interesting place to try. It was okay. We went on a very, very quiet Saturday afternoon and had sandwiches. The sandwiches were fine - nothing spectacular, but not bad either. I will say that the french fries were amazing! Additionally we had ordered the... More

Upon arrival host was full of energy. This is a nice, friendly environment. I was able to taste 4 different selection of wine & we purchase a bottle with our lunch. The fish tacos were delicious!!!! I will come back to visit. My friend order the lobster ravioli.

We had Easter brunch with our family and it far exceeded our expectations by offering the most delicious versions of a classic brunch buffet. The array of salads and desserts as well as cold shrimp, Eggs Benedict, custom omelets and cajun French toast were a real treat. The hot entrees were all interesting and tasty. Although the entire place was... More

Stopped in on an impulse - Friday night around 7. Got a table right away despite smallish seating area. The way they sell wine is awesome. You can order from a list or shop a retail space (slightly higher than retail) and pay $8 corkage fee and get a real bargain here versus any restaurant you can imagine. Steve, the... More

We had an early reservation for Christmas eve. Had never been before and was surprised that 2/3 of the space was devoted to retail wine sales. The restaurant is actually not many tables (although you can sit at the bar). We started with arancini, which were 6 small risotto balls, fried and placed on top of a plain, slightly chunky... More

We were there a saturday for lunch. The cheese table was good, the onion jelly is to die for. I had the fish tacos and they were amazing. The best I´ve had probably. My partner had the special for the day, a margherita flatbread which had a great taste but it was pretty oily. We then decided to do the... More

What a nice surprise. We went into the restaurant with no reservation on a Monday night. There were two large parties so the hostess have us a private dining room in the wine room of the high end wines. The room seats about 10 and we were a party of 5. Nice privacy and good food and service. We had... More

Very warm and friendly, this is a good restaurant disguised as a wine store (also good). Wine selection is excellent and food is always good with reasonable portions. Staff is very good and owners Steve and Kevin are usually there.
