My wife & I decided last Friday evening to have a meal out on our way to meeting. We both choose Liver & Colcannon although I could have easily chosen any of the options on the menu and accompanied by one their cask conditioned ales, 5 chose from. It arrived well presented, beautifully cooked and tasted great. For dessert I... More

Went for Sunday lunch in a group of 14, due to road closures some of us were late but this did not phase the staff even though they were busy. The staff were cheerful and very helpful and food good as usual. Very good venue for Sunday Lunch.

Really used to love visiting this restaurant. It was always friendly, a bit different and you expected to pay a little bit more for something special. Unfortunately, portion size is down, vegetables are under-cooked (and I like them firm) and the prices have steadily risen over the last couple of years. It's also slightly off the beaten track, a few... More

Having frequented this establishment for mamy many years and always been very pleased with the quality of food, I was very disappointed with tonight's visit with friends. Food quality and quantity was never an issue until now. One dish which is synonymous with the cross keys is their steak and mushroom pie ..... it has been a mainstay for many... More

Went for lunch with my husband, all on blackboards, if it was busy I bet you get everybody standing near the boards and would be hard to get a good look, I would prefer menus that you can sit down and make your choice, I chose the gammon with egg and thick cooked chips, I was hopping they would be... A second review in our visitors book gave us another enjoyable evening. Welcoming staff, great ales and lovely food served at a reasonable price. Choice of eating at the bar or in the restaurant but I don't think the quality of food would alter one bit. If you are looking for a place to eat, it's a thumbs up from... More

Used to be really good, Not been for some time and disappointed. Went for blackboard list - starters ok but overpriced and "classics" (all circa £10) for mains thinking they would have better turnover/be fresher. The chefs homemade lasagne was overcooked dry and tasteless - so only partly eaten. On being told the only comment was "sorry I will tell... More

Four of us had a meal, The starters were not great for the price and would advise to go straight for a main from the board. With the main I would say two of us were pleased with our selection but the other two were left wishing they had chosen a different dish. On the down side the fish batter... More

Having heard from several people this was a lovely pub that serves fantastic food we decided to give it a try, we are local to the area and looked forward to finding a pub we could stroll to in summer and enjoy a meal. The pub is warm and welcoming as you enter with a lovely roaring fire, seating and... More
