Chef Tyler Thames opened Restaraunt Tyler with an eye towards using Mississippi products in preparation of the food. He has been very successful with this approach. Pork, duck, catfish, shrimp honey and sweet potatos are all key ingredients. He has done well with this. I had a grilled center cut pork chop glazed with a honey based glaze, my wife... More

Restaurant Tyler is one of my favorite places to go with my wife. She loves their fried shrimp for a blue plate lunch. I love their chicken and waffle for brunch. The lunch and brunch are great prices for high quality food! The atmosphere is rustic and cozy in the main area, but it is a little dark upstairs. I... More

Restaurant Tyler is kind of an eclectic mix of southern dishes that they tried to add a little too much flair to (although sometimes it is effective). Their blue-plate specials are great and usually get you out for less than $10 (I think, can't quite remember). The food is almost always amazing (as long as the kitchen didn't decide it... More

We ate there during Bulldog Bash and the Shrimp and Grits were amazing! The service was wonderful. The prices were reasonable. We will be back!

I want to like Tyler; I really do. It's meant to be a nice restaurant. It's pretty inside. The menu focuses on local kinds of dishes and ingredients, but the experience is always lacking. First, there's the food, which is always so incredibly heavy. Too much cream; too much cheese; too much salt. It's a place that substitutes lots of... More

Had the sweet potato gnocchi and Caesar salad. Both were great. Others at the table also liked their meals. Lights were very bright at night and no music playing. That would have helped ambiance. Good place.

We ate at Restaurant Tyler tonight. After studying the menu looking for things that fit our diet, we finally ordered an appetizer (smoked catfish casserole with pita points), a spinach salad, and sweet potato creme brulee for dessert. All the food tasted good, particularly the appetizer. The service was competent, and the decor was nothing special. There's little on the... More

I enjoy frequenting Restaurant Tyler for the weekday Blue Plate Special prices, as well as for the Sunday Brunch. My last visit was fantastic, as we had great service and food. I ordered the summer berry salad, which was fresh, and added grilled chicken. I normally eat here for the Blue Plate Special on the weekdays with friends, and the... More

Ate here with a group of six for the first time tonight after recommendation from a friend. Service was excellent, appetizers were some of the best we've ever had, entrees were excellent...overall great dining experience until dessert, which was dissapointing compared to the rest of the meal. One o our party had fruit tart, which was cold and stale, everyone... More
