Not your average Mexican restaurant

My only complaint is that there are so many items on the menu, it's hard to choose! I finally ordered the Fajita trio (beef, chicken and shrimp) and my husband ordered the Cochinita Pibil (Yucatan-style slow-roasted pork shoulder wrapped in a banana leaf). Both were delicious and there was so much... read more

Great atmosphere & great food...what more could you ask for? My personal favorite is the layered dip appetizer...I make it my meal option...it's all you need!

I drove by this place quite a few times on my way to have lunch at Anjou - a French restaurant next door..I never tried it because of some of the negative reviews.. Decided to try it out because of the people in line.. It looked like it was a popular place for dinner after all.. I am a road... More

Hello, Thank you for your recent visit to Sombra Mexican Kitchen. I am so sorry to hear that you did not have an enjoyable experience with us. We take great pride in serving fresh, delicious Mexican cuisine, but it sounds like we missed the mark here. Your feedback regarding the bland, watery pork is helpful in following up with our... Over four decades ago, in a dark, smoky cantina in Midland, Texas where almost no one spoke English, I was introduced to what would become a favorite food for the rest of my life. Other fans of this great food style will no doubt agree, there's TexMex and there's TexMex. Sombra's in Ridgeland, Mississippi is the closest thing we've found... More

Close to hotel, nice looking place with outdoor seating. Service was good with knowledgeable staff. Presentation was appetizing, unfortunately the taste was in the sauce and the remainder of the food bland. Maybe after a long day on road nothing was going to taste good.

I have eaten here several times and have tried to like it. I just don't like anything on the menu. All of the food I have had here is over salted and over seasoned. The best thing they have are the chips and salsa. They have "gourmet" Mexican food rather than your typical Mexican places. The last time we ate... More

Went with "Catch of the Day" recommended by waitress. Blackened Redfish with rise and sautéed vegetables. Well prepared and just the right portions. Very pleasant dining area and attentive service. Decent "House" Margaritas.

You must try the Chicken Tamales and the cheese dip. Best I have ever had. Great place for casual dining. Indoor and outdoor seating.

We visited Sombra on a Wednesday night. One of the best things about this place is you don't smell like a fajita when you leave. The food is awesome. I had the grilled salad with chicken. I am trying to eat well. The chips and salsa were some of the best I have had. They have a seasoning in them.... More

An admirable place to find Mexican style dishes, all with the typical American influence . . . A plate of quesedillas will satisfy a hungry guy; the fish tacos are best ordered with redfish! Ask for a side of pico de gaillo and add that to your salsa, you're now in business...
