Great atmosphere

Food was very good and our waitress was very knowledgable and friendly! My husband had the grouper and I had chicken piccata. Both were very good. Able to get in with no wait which is unusual. Beautiful building with lots of character. Will be going back more often!

I like the decorating in this restaurant..it just seems comfortable. The tables for four in the back are really nice and you need to ask for that. The Duck Gumbo is a treat and hit the spot. We had the Wild Salmon salad, but I am sure all the dishes are prepared with expertise and care. I am putting this... More

Like a lot of restaurants in Oxford, McEwens has similar offerings that other restaurants serve. Monkey see, monkey do... Their fish always smells 'fishy'. Last week we dined there at night and I could smell the awful odor of fish as soon as it was brought out of the kitchen.

McEwens is just amazing. First of all, it is quiet and a wonderful place to go if you really want to visit with your dining companion. We are frequent lunch diners, where we especially like the salmon entree, the farmer's plate and the hamburger. It may be the best hamburger in Oxford. We also enjoy going around 5 pm and... More

We hosted a graduation dinner for our son here. Although the restaurant was busy, we were well take care of. The atmosphere is lovely. The food was excellent. If we are back in Oxford again, we will definitely be going back to McEwen's.

McKewen's is a beautiful restaurant, providing a comfortable dining environment. Have been there several times and always had an enjoyable time and meals. This time had Buttermilk Fried Oysters with Spicy Mustard Plum Sauce, Mignonette as a starter. The oysters were served on their shells, which was a great presentation. The main was wild caught salmon with a sweet sauce,... More

Had dinner with a couple who live part time in Oxford and the Summers in North Carolina. I mentioned to them that the mussels were good during one of our prior visits to McEven's. Our dining companion ordered the appetizer portion [about 18 mussels] and 6 arrived dead [closed, not open]. We mentioned this to the server and asked if... More

McEwen's continues to offer a variety of dishes having a European influence - with a touch of the South. On this visit, I started with steamed mussels in red wine sauce, which were very good, but not the best I ever had. Next came pork osso bucco, which was very, very good. Traditionally, osso bucco is made with a veal... More

My wife and I came for dinner on a Tuesday evening; only a few of the many tables were full. My wife ordered pan fried catfish breaded with corn meal, served over with white cheddar grits and topped with a ham/crawfish/tomato ragou. It was very tasty, but she had one small complaint - the breading was on the thick and... More
