Restaurant has an interesting and long history - in business since 1870. The owner of the B&B we were staying in said it was the best restaurant in town. The food was pretty good and they had very generous servings. We couldn't eat it all so if you were local you could probably make a lunch out of your dinner... More

I ate here 15 years ago before the made it into fine/casual dining. The long coffee counter was gone with classic eggs and gritts. This place has been here since 1870 and should be around for another 100 years with servers like Casey G. We sat in the bar on a busy Thursday eve with a concert at the Riley Center soon... More

This place used to be a classic, old-school, really one-of-a-kind place. I actually loved the original atmosphere the most. Like a small town version of Galatoire's in New Orleans. That is all gone now...now it's like any fru-fru bistro in Anywhere, USA. The food is good, the service is fine but the magic is gone. Not sure why it was... More

The food was very good and very Southern. Brisket beef with delicious barbecue style sauce. Tasty mashed potatoes. Flavorful black bottom pie, which I would call French silk with rich whipped creme. Nice house wine! But it's the ambience of the old downtown hotel-style restaurant that sets it apart. Photos of guests and giant mirrors adorn the walls. There's an... More

Brunch on Sunday is my favorite meal they do. Great eggs, shrimp and grits, New Orleans poboys, and cocktails! They have ice music and it's quite festive! The rest of the week is consistent and good, but not over the top.

Great service and atmosphere. Good wine selection. Upstairs bar and patio are laid back with bar menu. Try the fried green tomatoes and the lunch blue plate specials!

This is a well-established restaurant that serves very good food. The two things that I suggest as a must-try are the fried green tomatoes with the come-back sauce and the Peanut Butter Pie!! They are both sooooo good!! I would recommend to shy away from the italian dishes as they were average. Stick to ordering their find southern cuisine!!

The history of the restaurant and the southern cooking is well known here in Meridian. Oprah even raved about it a few years back. I could not wait to eat here. I finally got all dressed up and had my night out. Very nice service. For this area, it is a "fine dining" restaurant with good food. That being said...... More
