Great to see an old fashioned downtown restaurant still drawing crowds with good food.. and it is cooked, not prefab and frozen stuff. Full with the Sunday church crowd so I ate in the bar. . .homemade vegetable soup, shrimp and grifts with a few twists -- plum tomatoes and a light cream sauce. . and tested a new dessert... More

My Caesar salad was warm, the Romain was wilted and the dressing was rancid. Sent the salad back and refused a new one. Ordered steak and shrimp for dinner, the steak was over cooked and the grilled shrimp on top of the steak was lukewarm. The portion of asparagus was tiny, it was almost raw and all I could taste... I am so sorry that your dinner with us was a disaster. We strive for excellence in all facets of our operation, and it seems that we fell short of that goal with your table. I would love to discuss the matter further with you, if you would be so kind as to call me at the restaurant (601) 581-5770,... More

Glad we didn't pass this place up! My wife had the catfish and I had the bacon and blue burger. Probably the best meal we had on our trip . Best catfish we have ever had.

I've eaten here twice, and gotten drinks here a few times. I got the filet mignon and the catfish poboy, and both were outstanding. Prices, are higher that most MS places, but way cheaper than what you'll find in bigger cities; and the food is good enough to rival those places. You get peanut butter and crackers as an appetizer,... More

Enjoyed lunch! Great menu. I had 2 appetizers: fried green tomatoes with 1870 sauce and gumbo. Both were great. I had a very good blackened catfish Caesar salad for the main meal. Service was good. This is a must to eat at, if your in Meridian.

We were traveling through downtown Meridian. My wife checked trip advisor. She suggested we might have lunch at Weidman's. After mistakenly going to 22nd STREET and finding a Pawn Shop, we found our way to 22nd AVENUE to the restaurant. We found parking less than 100 feet from the entrance. The place looks very unassuming from the outside. Once you... More

My husband and I stopped here on our way to Birmingham. We like to try places in downtown areas since they are often local and unique. The building was beautiful and food was very good. We had the fried green tomatoes which were very tasty. I had the trout almondine and my husband had the BLT burger. We both enjoyed... More

Great historical restaurant with good food. Weidmanns first opened in 1870 by a Swiss immigrant named Felix Weidmann who was a chef on an ocean liner. The have a wide selection of main courses and their gumbo is one of thier specialties. The resturant is two levels with private banquet rooms and a bar on the second level. The food... More

While traveling through Meridian MS, went here based on TA reviews. We were not steered wrong. The building is a beautiful old one complete with nostalgia staircase and balcony. The food was great. Mushroom Swiss burger with fried green tomatoes and their version of the BlT with applewood smoked bacon and fried green tomatoes were delicious. Dinner finished off with... More
