Great food

Good down home Southern cooking at a reasonable price. The place is usually packed, so consider plannkng to go on off times (such as 11:00 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. for lunch) to avoid the crowds.

However, this was worth the trip. The food was well above average and plentiful. It is a terrific value at less than $9 per person. The fired chicken and chicken livers (if you like them) were exceptionally good.

The choices are so plentiful and the dining is relaxed and homey. I LOVED the meatloaf !!!! Great butterbeans, black-eyed peas and creamed corn. My plate was so full, I missed the dumplings and the dressing, but could SEE that they were mighty fine.

Huge buffet with high quality food! I loved the cooked greens and the rutabaga. They even have smoked chicken if you want a leaner option than fried chicken. For desert there's peach cobbler, bread pudding, banana pudding and soft serve ice cream, among others. Every table has a wide array of condiments such as bbq sauce and home made pepper... More

Large variety of salads, entrees & desserts. Everything was very tasty. Got there at noon and difficult to find a parking place or a place to sit down to eat. Very best fried chicken I have had in the Jackson area. Good place to eat like your mom cooked there.

Although the chicken is good, the buffet is only fair. It is the epitome of southern "all you can eat" buffet and it is very full every time I have been so I am assuming others think it is great. Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes etc are staples on the buffet.

We were told that this buffet was so good & popular that we added it to our list of to-do's for our trip. I must say that they did not disappoint us at all. This was worth the trip from our hotel in Pearl. Everything was so fresh & from the look of the large garden outside it'll stay that... More

Mama Hamils is a must if you're in the area. One of us has been here a number of times, and the other is now a convert. Cannot wait to go back. The food is so good, and there is a huge variety of salads, vegetables, meats, and desserts. Everything is homemade. The corn salad, cucumber salad, black eyed peas,... More

We visit Mama Hamil's every opportunity that we have. If you love home cooking, this is the place for you. This is an all you can eat buffet style restaurant, and very reasonably priced. The restaurant is open every day of the week except Sunday, which is a testament to their priorities. I would recommend this restaurant to all who... More
