Description: Please add this restaurant. I found it when we stayed in Port Gibson, MS. it is about 8 miles out of town. It is on yelp. You can see it here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/old-country-store-lorman-2, it is also on roadfood.com. It is very inexpenisive and the food is very good. Moreover, the owner is a character. He sings to you. The waitresses treat you like relatives. It is truly a wonderful experience.

Food is good. Chicken is incredibly tasty. Good veggies. Surprising other additions--fried pork chops, turkey and dressing, fresh fruit. Owner is a proud guy. Just talks and sings a bit much.

Three couples of us went yesterday for lunch at the Old Country Store. We arrived just as the chicken was coming out of the kitchen. I don't know what their secret recipe is, but it is a great one!!! We enjoyed the lunch and even had a song while we were eating. The cobbler and ice cream for dessert topped... More

Very good buffet and quaint items on display. Don't pass up seeing what is in the casket. A very good eating and resting place if you are traveling from Vicksburg to Natchez exploring all of the historical sites.

I have rarely been disappointed when visiting a highly-rated restaurant, but my visit to The OCS was far short of what I had hoped for. To begin with, the buffet price at $12.95 wasn't bad, but they added a $1.89 charge for a bottle of water, (the kind that is sold in many stores for around $3.00 per case), and... More

Mr. D's Old Country Store is a wonderful restaurant offering customers a true "down-home" Southern food experience in a unique setting. Of course, there is no better place to find fried chicken anywhere along Hwy. 61 (or anywhere else for that matter), however, their smorgasbord of classic sides should not be overlooked. They are equally delicious! For those endeavoring to... More

The host is entertaining. The chicken was a little greasy and premises needs to be a little cleaner.

I had my worse lunch experience here! I was getting string beans off the buffet and there was a roach I dipped out on my plate with them. After alerting wait staff, it took 3-5 mins before that batch of string beans was removed off the buffet and I had to warn people getting that item to wait. Mr. D... More

You shouldn't pass this place up. Country home cooking at its best. Be sure to try the fried chicken, okra and tomatoes, cucumber and tomato salad, black eyed peas, and fresh cobbler for dessert. Everything on the extensive buffet is fresh and tastes like it was in the garden that morning.

My family stopped for a late lunch while traveling home from vacation. Mr D greeted us upon arrival as well as his staff. The welcome was warm and inviting. It was about 3:30 in the afternoon when we arrived and Mr D had the cook staff drop fresh chicken for us. The chicken was so moist and crispy. The side... More

After seeing Alton Brown's Feasting on Asphalt about this place several years ago and reading many of the more recent reviews we decided to add a detour by 2 hours to a road trip weekend. For those of you used to Interstate convenience...this isn't it! You drive from Natchez, if coming from the south and go about 20 miles on... More
