You can read a lot of reviews about the chicken at The Old Country Store. The chicken is, without a doubt, outstanding. But the real “Secret Recipe” at this place is something that nourishes the soul, while your body also finds plenty of good southern victuals. (Or “Vittles” as Uncle Jed would say.) There are many great things in life... More

Our group of 5 seniors (2 American, 3 British) recently completed a 2-week roadtrip of the Southern States. After visiting nearby Windsor ruins on a Sunday morning in early May, we decided on the Old Country Store for a lunch buffet. Wow! What a neat place this is, as well. It's a trip back in time as you enter the... More

We stopped by the Old Country Store on a Sunday afternoon based on previous reviews from tripadvisor. This place is in the middle of nowhere, but when we pulled up the parking lot was full. This place is known for it's fried chicken. The chicken was pretty good and fresh. However, I am not sure I could say it's the... More

Famous for fried chicken but I would argue that the fried pork chops are a close second. Salad bar was minimal but the down-home, family recipe vegetables are excellent- and then there is the cobbler for dessert! Great sweet tea and you feel like you are sitting around the family dinner table.

The best chicken ever. Amazing sides. Wonderful cobblers. We were on our as y back from FL to OK and so glad we found this hole in the wall. Find time to stop.

We stopped here as our first stop on a 5 day motorcycle tour. Someone had heard about their fried chicken, it really wonderful, but the best thing is the homemade blackberry cobbler and homemade ice cream to go with it. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly. The gentleman that owns and runs it comes out and talks and sings... More

What a pleasant meal and visit with Mr. Davis. There were plenty of vegetable choices and other meats. We will be stopping in on our next trip.

This place was on the wife's bucket list. I've been hearing about it ever since the Feasting On Asphalt episode originally aired. I'm glad we when there. Its everything you have seen and heard and possibly more. The owner, Mr. D is quite a man and a very good singer as well. He told us the REAL story of Alton's... More

The atmosphere was interesting ... parts of it were a little 'garage-sale-ish" looking, the food was good. Fried Chicken was tasty - the owner is a piece of work. So overall an interesting experience.

this great find on Hwy 61 about 1 1/2 hrs. south of Vicksburg, MS and about 35-40 min. north of Natchez, MS is not to be missed-open 10 to 4 everyday-it all buffet style (all you can eat $10.95 per person plus drinks and desert)-the fried chicken & blackberry cobbler it not to be missed-
