OMG, Best Southern Cooking Ever

I have lived in the south for more than 30 years and this is the best fried chicken and southern fixin's I have ever had. I wish both my legs were hollow so I could have ate more.

We stopped at the visitors center in Clinton, Mississippi and one of the ladies that worked there told us we must visit the Old Country Store in Lorman, MS if we liked fried chicken. She said it is one of her favorite places and she goes there often. After visiting the Windsor Ruins and before re-entering the Natchez Trace, we... More

...get off at Lorman and eat some of the best fried chicken ever! Attentive staff and great food. Chicken is so hot you have to let it cool off before you eat. Be sure to leave room for the cobbler.

This place hardly needs my review; I see that already many have raved about this place - the unique atmosphere, the people and most of all , the food. Not just seriously good, but way beyond delicious, maybe the best fried chicken I've tasted, truly outstanding cobblers and other interesting and tasty items. When confronted by a choice of peach... Everyone raves over the fried chicken, but mine is the homemade blackberry cobbler!! The hot cobbler with 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream (melting) is heaven in each bit. Mr. D singing to us as we eat is pretty AWESOME too!!!!

Not sure there's anything to add but I will put in some pictures of the food. The chicken is the best but don't overlook the array of vegetables. Collard and turnip greens, stewed okra, cucumber & tomato salad. Mr. D is so entertaining, and his son is involved too. Great place, worth a drive from anyplace.

Ate at Mr. D's country store after a day hike on the Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail. This is some of the best fried chicken you will ever eat, the restuarant is located inside an old country store that has not been renovated. The facilities arent the best but the chicken makes up for it. We have eaten here plenty... More
