Great place!

We had a wonderful time at Hal & Mal's - make sure to visit it when you're in Jackson. We were tipped off by The New York Times's 36 Hours in Jackson. We didn't realize it was Blue Monday when we showed up. It's really an evening for the local blues club. But we were made to feel welcome by... read more

we enjoyed the blues live music band, but took a lot of time for food to arrive to table after ordering...we are glad we tried this place for dinner, but slow service make us hesitant to return...the food was good, but nothing exceptional...located in an okay part of town, but some people right outside of restaurant door asking for money.

In Jackson for business and stopped in for a few beers and dinner. I thought the place had a lot of character. Lots of photos of cool blues people and famous Mississippians on the walls. Definitely come in for a beer at least. They have a good selection and the service in my opinion left nothing to be desired. Really... More

We went to this place because one of our travel companions' names is Mal. The food was just ok. The service was not memorable in a good or bad way. If you'd like to see what this place looks likes: youtu.be/-xjnngywU4M

Stumbled across Hal & Mal's on a Saturday lunch time whilst we were driving down to New Orleans. And we managed to stumble across their first Brunch session. Lovely staff, fab food (the burger was great!) and nice atmosphere. We sat inside, but there was a little outside terrace which looked very cute. Got some great recommendations for New Orleans... Cute place kind of out of sight behind another bar. People were friendly and staff was helpful. Good tamales! We were only in Jackson for one night and this was our first stop and I would go again.

We stopped here one night on a trip down to the Gulf, and the dinner was delicious! It was a Friday night, so we were able to sample the seafood bisque which was delish and the shrimp po'boys. All highly recommended. Two thumbs up!

This was a high point on trip to Jackson. A real place, real history and a friendly feeling. A place I would go to on a regular basis if I lived there. Great chocolate pie ! Pay attention to the hours, tried to go back for Sat lunch but was not open

This local treasure has been around for at least 25 years and it is a gem. Ecclectic, a great place to hear live music, nice bar and very laid back. The food is the star however and come just for that. Made from scratch pies (we are starting with dessert because even though we were too full to order any,... More

This was hands down the best po boy I've ever had and I love po boys! The bread was fresh and homemade very fluffy and delicious. My husband and I came here on a road trip from Dallas TX to Charlotte NC we were referred by a friend. It was in between lunch and dinner and we still had a... More
