At 11:50AM, We walked in and there were no other customers. Not one. While we ate, only 2 other customers came in (to pick up a togo order). Two dine in customers came in as we were leaving at 12:20PM. The decor is very old and outdated. Dark wood panelling and brown booths and chairs. Weird miscellaneous artwork scattered around.... Do yourself a favor and stay away from Lamar's. They have the worst food and even worse service. I took my family here and we all got sick. The place is nasty and the kitchen needs a visit by the board of health. I would NOT recommend this place to my worst enemy.

My little girl was treated so well. The owner was there and he showed my daughter the talking deer head. So funny. He gave her some mardi gras beads too, which she loves. Best Fried Chicken Ever! A local, family owned business, passed through the generations. Breakfast is great, and the Greek food is good too. You can't beat the fun atmosphere.

The proximity of this restaurant to the Mississippi Museum of Art makes it a natural choice for lunch. And the food - what can I say? The fried trout is delish! Also try the Greek plate - kind of like a disassembled gyro, smothered in a feta dressing. If you are really nice and ask in advance, sometimes they will... More
