Purple Parrot

One of my favorite restaurants to go to, period. The menu is updated frequently and is always creative and interesting, not to mention very tasty. The service is great and the staff is always extremely knowledgeable. This place is awesome.

Excellent service, menu items are prepared well, however, in my opinion, the minue is limited. A bit pricey , but nice when you want to celebrate. They sometimes offer specials for the day. Purple Parrot has delicious desserts too.

The first thing you see when you walk in the door is the filthy and stained ceiling tiles. They are directly over the hostess and when you survey the room you notice they are everywhere. Secondly, only order a gin and tonic if you like tonic water. There could not be a thimble full of gin in the glass. Regarding... More

If you are looking for fine dining and a place to impress your friends, the Wine Room at the Purple Parrot is THE place. Dinner is served for up to 16 in a room which also serves as the wine cellar for the Purple Parrot. Surrounded by shelves of bottles you can enjoy great food and deserts, my favorite is... More

We love to recommend Purple Parrot to friends and travelers-through. This time, the service and drink selections were outstanding, but our food was NOT enjoyed by all our guests. 2 dishes were too salty; one was an enormous amount of food and one was a meager serving and the most costly. Our guests loved the diversity and the notion of... More

Purple Parrot has long been a favorite, recently the food has been disappointing. The service continues to be superior! The last few times the food has been overcooked and much too salty. Even the bread is too salty. This is regrettable in that Purple Parrot has been the best restaurant in the area.

The best gourmet restaurant I know located between Atanta and New Orleans. Very good wine list. Great service, excellent presentation, and an unhurried quiet atmosphere. Good for business lunches/dinners as well as romantic celebrations. Expensive - certainly by local standards. Not concentrated on "Southern" foods or local favorites. Overall - a local treasure often saving a 90 minute trip one... More

Very Dark and dingy. Did not look clea. I ordered vegetable soup. I believe the cook spilled a bag of salt in it, it was terrible along with the other food. Blue cheese dressing had no taste. Tried to pay with Visa cash card and they would only accept $10.00 of it.

At last Hattiesburg has a nice (very) dark bar with an imaginative drinks list and small plate food, but I miss the piano; music is canned and a bit too loud. Service was smooth when we were last there. We'll go back on occasion. It seems to still need some settling-in.

Purple Parrot/Crescent City Grill/The Mahogany Bar are in one building owned by the same restauranteur. My son and I ate dinner at The Mahogany Bar on a Friday night because the Crescent City Grill had a wait and it was the same menu. Bar was a bit loud for conversation, but it was fine especially since the basketball games were... More
