Stopped by for lunch today. Had the shrimp po boy. It's hard to mess up something so simple, but they did a good job with the shrimp so I thought it was a good choice. The sweet tea was good, and the servers were quick and good looking.

Steaks had a good flavor but were extremely thin. Imitation crab meat in the salad. Not impressed. Guess some people just have never eaten good food.

Have been driving past this place for years, and finally the wife and I decided it was time to try it. Glad we did. Delicious, well-seasoned steaks (my wife had the rib-eye, I had the filet), and we also tried the grilled shrimp, also delicious and well-prepared. Stuffed potato side dish good, crab salad good, service good. A little pricey... More

I had the crab salad, with homemade honey mustard, steak and shrimp and the loaded potato. Everything was delicious. I loved the juicy steak. I'm ready for more.

The building is a dive but that adds to the charm. Where the locals eat. I always get the broiled shrimp salad. You can bring your own wine. The specialize in steaks and cook in front of you.

Love this place! they cook the steaks over hickory wood chips (i think) and it gives the steak a really distinct flavor. the staff is always friendly and the service is good. never a bad experience at the Captain's!

While in Gulfport for Air Force training, we were referred to Captain Al's. For me, no advertisement is as reliable as mouth to mouth, so one evening 10 of us loaded up to go eat. When we drove up, the place looked on the outside like maybe we made a mistake. When we were promptly seated, we watched steaks cooked... More

First off, this building is the type of ragged old place with character that I like to visit. Decorated in a nautical theme, this place packs them in so get there rely or expect a wait. Seems they only hire knockouts or models and the service is friendly and very easy on your eyes. But don't think that I mean... More

A very large group of parents and kids (a soccer team) descended on Captain Al's on a Saturday night. They did a really good job of getting all of us seated, keeping our drinks coming and I think got everyone's food orders correct. I was hoping to have a meal with some fresh fish, but Captain Al's is pretty much... More

90% of the time you get a great steak. Every now and then, they miss bad and the steak is tough. Guess its tough to get it too consistent when cooking over a pecan wood fire. If you do get a so-so steak, give it another try. Most of the time, it's a knockout. Can't beat the service or the... More
