The after Katrina renovation of the Gulfport Historical District is an architectural gem. This restaurant is located in one of its beautiful old buildings, a prior bank, and the inside is the typical modern conversion: exposed bricks, high ceilings, large windows, smart decor and stylist tableware. The atmosphere is relaxed, spiffy, casual. The menu is extensive (beef/seafood) and interesting. As newcomers, we ordered the Kobe burger w/fries ($12) and the Cajun Pasta Supreme w/salad ($15). Good food, great value, but what makes this place outstanding is the dedicated attention to detail - delicious hot bread, piping hot steak fries right from the fryer, a small salad with impecable presentation and walnuts and smoked Gouda to boot... Grand. And the service - a courteous, professional young waiter who anticipated our desires (good staff has this ability) and fulfilled them effective and expeditiously. Truly endearing. Places like this make our escapades from New Orleans to the Gulf beaches a true joy. Of course, we'll return

Good

We went with a huge good, they were very accommodating. The seafood pasta was delish! Enough for 2. Wait staff was very friendly and pretty fast considering how busy they were.

The four of us are from out of town but had our New Year's Eve dinner here. It was great! Two of the group had steaks which were good and two of us had fresh fish. My grouper was very good but the shrimp on top were very anemic looking and had little taste. Service was good-we would return!!!

With a long wait list, on a busy Saturday night, it was obvious the restaurant is a favorite eating destination, a tell-tale sign it is a Gulfport favorite. The atmosphere is perhaps loud, but not a detractor. Our Server was very attentive and performed admirably. The food was good, but not to the level I had expected indicated by the... More

The atmosphere is nice, waitress was nice, food was horrible! The "butter" for the baked potato looked like a science experiment. The topping on the fish was not seasoned and very watery and undercooked 😔 the sour cream was watery as I poured on my potato. Was our first and last time there!! Waitress noticed we didn't eat hardly any... More

We visit this restaurant on occasion and haven't been disappointed yet by the quality of the food or the service. At times we have had to wait longer than we would like when they are busy, but understandable as it can get crowded quickly. The atmosphere is comfortable, although quite noisy at times which is typical for this style building.... More

Went with a big group (30-35). It took a long time to get our food because we ordered from the regular menu but the servers were very friendly and I loved my meal (I had the shrimp and grits and loved it!)

Food at Lookout49 was very delicious and well prepared. My only gripe is my server tried to pretend to know what she was doing, but didn't have a clue. She forgot my dinner salad, and it was not a busy night. While I was still enjoying my meal, she stood the check up on my table as to say eat... More

My sliders were very good and my wife's stuffed catfish was fantastic. My father's steak sandwich was very tough and my mother's French onion soup tasted strange. Loved the redo of the old building. Very friendly staff and good service.

Tho we didn't have concrete reservations and had to wait for about 15 mins. the restaurant sat us down at a nice setting. Waiter was very nice and made sure we were satisfied with the meal. Steak was done the way I ordered and there was ample food. It is a little pricey but like I said there was more... More

Its just sad. This is the only so called steak house in downtown Gulfport. The menu is pretty much identical to the old school restaurants on the coast that have been serving fried seafood, claw meat stuffing, and a few pasta dishes. The steaks that are served are drown in heavy sauces and butter to disguise the Sysco brand on... More
