Loves Does! Steaks cooked in old oven that seals the flavor. Salad is classic dressing that is simple but great. Must get the shrimp and hot tamales for appetizers.

Atmosphere is like your aunt Janes country kitchen. Actually you walk thru it to get to your seat! No menus and the salad swims in its dressing....but you go for the hand cut steaks. That is all!

Forget the ambience and focus on the steak, which will be amazing! If you like tamales, order some for an appetizer.

Doe's is located in a unique shot gun house, the original building. You enter thru the kitchen where huge steaks are cooking in the ovens. Walk thru the prep area into the dining areas. You are greeted by the wonderful members of the family who have owned and operated this restaurant for generations. The food is just plain good. Hot... More

Wow, what a find. The restaurant is nothing to look at from the outside, but our guide book had accurately described it and we went ahead. The first thing you see is a huge furnace type grill that has been there since the 1940s, covered in sizzling steaks. The dining room is very basic, long oilcloth covered tables, and busy... More

I have had steak in Argentina, Dallas, Chicago, NewYork at the very best places. No one make a better steak than Doe's. Very hard to believe, but this out of the way, simple, strait forward place is the real deal. Not a fancy place in any way, wait staff suited for an OK to good diner. All fixens good but... More

It ain't fancy by any stretch of the imagination, but it's delicious! My son and I were seated in the kitchen. It was a really fun night for the both of us, and the steak and shrimp were amazing! I definitely plan on eating there again whenever I'm in Greenville.

Greenville is not the most prosperous city around, but repeated examples prove to me it has to be the friendliest town in the U.S. Doe's is located in a poor part of town and the resturant looks rather roughshod. You enter the place through the kitchen, I don't believe there is anything new anywhere, the vinyl tableclothes are well worn... More

You would think I would learn. Strangely, when I'm in the area, I'm drawn by the hype to this little shack in the bad part of town. Security is stationed outside even at 5:00 pm. My guess is to protect the fat stack of cash that must be on the premises. Or perhaps he's there for the robbery that happens... More

They do not have a menu, and they do not tell you upfront what the proces are, so we ended up paying over 300 dollar for steaks and beer ( they only serve beer and water) with 4 persons
