Tamales were very good. I'll admit, I was pleasantly surprised!

I was on tour in Greenville, and someone said there were some great places to get tamales there. Apparently, there's a tamale trail throughout Mississippi. One of the places that was highly recommended was Doe's Eat Place. After a rather long set up for performances the next day, we head out to... read more

Made my second trip to Doe's. This time had my other two sons and their wives. It was some of their first time visit. We had tamales again and they were great again! This time we ordered the chili and put that on tamales! Chili was very good! I had salad this time and I could do without it. Fries... More

I was quite disappointed with Doe's. All my life I have heard how wonderful their steaks are. It was average,at best. I've had much better for much less at other area restaurants. The house salad was also disappointing...it just didn't have the flavor of another Italian house salad in the area. Their hot tamales, shrimp, and fries were good though.... More

At 2 pounds for a steak, I recommend splitting. So good!! Order rare or medium rare for best flavor. They are cooking the steak at super high heat, so well done is going to be really well done. The tamales are awesome. I love the relaxed atmosphere. I soaked the fries in the delicious steak juices. Yummy!

I hate to say negative things in general, and especially about family-owned culinary institutions, but Doe's prices didn't make sense to me or anyone in my party. What didn't make sense? Why a steak in this dirty, visually unappealing restaurant can cost more than a steak at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. That's my whole beef (pun very intentional) with this place.... More

If you like good food with large portions Doe's will not disappoint! The staff could run this place in their sleep. Black iron skillet fried French fries , tamales, garlic shrimp, and the porterhouse . This will easily fill two bellies and not disappoint! Visit with the staff to experience the true history of this local jewel!

The title says it all. The atmosphere is cool, laid back, help yourself beer cooler. But the salad was drenched in dressing, filet was tender, but no flavor and over cooked, and spent $100 with tip for one person. The shrimp were good, tamales ok. Was told it was going to be the best steak ever, but it was over... More

We have heard about this steak house for years but finally got to go. The steak was phenomenal, the fries where excellent and the tamales where as well. The only thing I didn't really care for was the salad. The building is neat but very small. It's a place everyone should try at least once!

If you want my honest opinion, the steaks were not all that good! No flavor, over cooked even when I ordered it medium. Also, far too much excess fat/grease poured over the top. If this is what the citizens of Greenville think that a steak should taste like, they really need to travel to some other steakhouse in other cities... More
