You would think I would learn. Strangely, when I'm in the area, I'm drawn by the hype to this little shack in the bad part of town. Security is stationed outside even at 5:00 pm. My guess is to protect the fat stack of cash that must be on the premises. Or perhaps he's there for the robbery that happens... More

They do not have a menu, and they do not tell you upfront what the proces are, so we ended up paying over 300 dollar for steaks and beer ( they only serve beer and water) with 4 persons

Doe's was in a book we had called "1000 things to do before you die" I felt very uncomfortable by the fact that there were no prices anywhere and we felt that as "out of towners" we would be charged differently than a "local", boy was I right. We ordered 2 buds, 2 salads and 3 tamales that were the... More

I've only been here 4 times in a dozen years, but I guess having Anthony Bourdain visit has gone to their heads. Yes, the steaks are very large, but one steak, 12 shrimp and a Coke came to $110. It simply is not the place it once was. Guess I should have known something was different by the fact that... More

We hadn’t been to Doe’s Eat Place for about 30 years. It doesn’t sit on any convenient travel route and there isn’t much other reason to go to Greenville. But Doe’s was just as we remembered—an old wooden shack looking like a strong breeze could knock it down. We arrived on a Saturday evening at around 8:00pm. We had to... More

I think people go here because it is famliar and a status symbol. Yes, they do have some of the biggest steaks served in the state and many celebrities have been there but I get an amazing steak at home. The steak was okay, the salad was like soup amd the service was good

I'm a suburban girl from the Midwest with an adventurous spirit. But I admit I was challenged upon arrival. In spite of the rave reviews I have heard and read about Doe's, I was skeptical as I traveled up the stairs and through the kitchen into the dining area. Walking through the grill area where I could see wonderful, thick,... More

Greenville, MS. Looking for a hole in the wall joint. This is the place. But no menus, no prices, no tea. Greenville's water is horrible. $3 for a can of coke. $5 for a bowl of salad. The whopping ribeye steak! 32oz. of mediocre meat at best was not worth $48. Tamales were decent at average price. The food was... More

It was a great place to eat, but after dark the atmosphere was terrible. If you go, make sure you get in and out before dark.

We drove from Tunica, about two hours one way, to eat at this historical place. I must say that it was well worth the drive and next time we are in Memphis / Tunica, we will make the jaunt to Doe's. No need for a knife, you can eat the Ribeye with a fork. Debbie, our server, was delightful and... More
