The coffee house is a great alternative to fast food. A cup of soup and a half-sandwich is a great lunch here.

One of at least three very good coffee shops in historic downtown Winona, with excellent coffee and food.

Stopped for lunch while traveling great river road. Extremely reasonable 1/2 sandwich and cup of soup. Gourmet quality local organic veg and vegan offerings. 1/2 sandwich the size of most cafe full sandwiches. Comfortable seating inside of wonderfully laid out bookstore.

The food is absolutely to die for! Definitely check it out! It is worth the price and the service is great.

I think you pay for the cool artsy college vibe here rather than the food. Although the food was fine and the staff friendly, if I'm going to pay 7.50 for a sandwich, i'd like to get a whole one, not half and it was an OK sandwich not super great (sunflower seed, cream cheese, etc.). The soup, however, was... More

The menu is extremely limited. More selections for breakfast/brunch than lunch. Desserts looked good. Soup was tasty and hot. Order at the counter, browse the book store and your order will be delivered to your table. The book store includes new, used, and local author selections.

We loved this coffee house. We went here for lunch before heading over to the MN Marine Art Museum. It was very busy and appeared to be a popular place. All food is made from local and organic ingredients as much as possible. We had the mufulleta sandwich and the Turkey sandwich with brie and cranberry chutney. Both were great.... More

In November, I went to Blue Heron. Two things attracted me; the bookstore, which is called The Bookshelf, and the Blue Heron, because of it's menu. I had a vegetarian sandwich that was amazing. The atmosphere in there is so nice. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and the food and coffee choices are amazing. I am returning there in March, to... More

While in Winona, 3 different businesses suggested I try the Blue Heron Coffee House. WOW! I am so glad I took their advice! The homemade sandwich and soup was out of this world delicious! Great selection of unique sandwiches and the service was great! Don't miss visiting this place on your way through Winona!

Nice inviting atmosphere. Enjoy that there is a bookstore. Lots of seating and a lot of art and pictures on the wall. The best seat is tucked back in corner of book store, a nice cushy high back chair. Great way to spend a lazy morning.
