My husband and I were spending a day together and ended up in White bear Lake, we found C.G. Hooks and were glad we did! It was the last weekend they were open for the season and so they were out of a few things but it wasn't a problem for us. We ordered a bowl with Frito's, pulled pork... More

They may be a small restaurant but the food has been great. It is a lot of high school/college kids working there but all that we have worked with are friendly. Its nice to be close to the lake but not to close to where there are a ton of bugs. everything we have tried thus far is impressive

we ordered a bbq sampler (ribs, pulled pork, brisket, beans, cole slaw, corn bread, etc.) and a 1/2 rack of ribs. it was enough for 6 and we were all stuffed. the ribs were a little overdone, but super tender and they had 3 homemade sauces, all good. sandwiches were good, beans were great. deliver to your boat, cant beat... We (couple with 2 year old) went to support a friend who was sharing his music at Tally's Dockside. Found a table rather quickly, we quickly found it was because no one was serving it, waitress looked at us and served all but us. Sat there for at least 20 minutes. We finally went to bar to get a menu,... More

Walked in, and saw what looked to be a decent little shop. We thought that we'd give it a try, and looked at the menu. Besides myself, there were 4 other people with me. The tables were very cramped and uncomfortable for the 5 of us to sit all together. We went up to order, and we all hesitantly ordered... More

This is a fun summer place, across the street from the lake, beach vibe decor, friendly service, and the ice cream and BBQ are both very good. The problem is, there's precious little of the latter. Advice: order a sandwich. At around $9 it's an OK value. By comparison, the $15 "platter" of brisket is a plate-size tin with one... More

This was the toughest BBQ Pork we've ever had & we've had a lot. You'll pay $9.00 for a naked sandwich with sauces serves on the side. No chips, no pickle, just tough meat on a bun. The sauce choices were good as was the flavor of them. End of story. They also don't have a designated place to park.... More

Had the Hooks Style Beef Brisket Sandwich and the Potato Wedges. The brisket had no smoke ring with almost no flavor and the amount of meat was very skimpy for $9.95. The Potatoe Wedges had good flavor, but the portion size was very small for $2.50. Nice location and cool atmosphere (liked the surfboard bar), but there are other places... More

Very informal. Has good live music, limited menu. Not bad burgers. There are better restaurants nearby, but they don't have the live music.

Had the ribs and they were good but not great. I like mine more smokey and juicer. Mine were fall off the bone which is over cooked to me. The corn salad tasted like it was made a day or two before. Beans were good
