Good But Not Great

Slippery's Tavern is a great place to go if you are fan of the Grumpy Old Men movies. It really does feel like the movies, and being able to sit right on the river is also well worth going. The food was good, but not great, which is typical bar food.

I had the broiled cod dinner & fries, it was great. It was the first time I had ordered fish here & it was a nice surprise to see the cooked snap peas when I got my plate. My wife had the spaghetti, delicious, her favorite. Strawberry shortcake for desert, highly recommended! We had excellent service all the way thru... More

About 17 of us showed up and it didn't take long to see us. I order the Bleu Bacon Burger and it was fabulous... I heard the Catfish was excellent (will try that next time). Let's just say there wasn't a lot of talking going on because everyone seems to enjoy their meals and the service was fast considering the... More

Nice Bar, was featured in Grumpy Old Men. Right on the Mississippi River with a nice patio, nice staff and good food.

Love this place! Great food!! I had the Slippery Burger - BEST flame broiled burger i've ever had!! My son had the ribs - awesome food and service! Eat your lunch at a window seat and enjoy watching the eagles soar! :)

I LOVE fresh catfish and was very pleased to see that it was available in Catfish Hunter Land of Grumpy Old Men! My husbands cod with the slippery potatoes and snap peas was also great and our daughter just loved to be in Slippery's

Seriously, how do people up here get so overweight eating this crap? Is it because they drink so much that they think its good? They screwed up spaghetti. Gummy, and the sauce was bizarre. The pork loin sandwich had to be from Schwann, and the breading was much thicker than the meat. They could fry cheese curds, like most of... More

Something is different at Slippery's, and it's good. Having eaten here several times over the past few years, I wasn't impressed, till late last year, we had a great meal, and fine service. We've been back several times this year and LOVE the clam chowder, house made, on fish Friday. Delish. It's tough to get much more than warehouse food... More

Stopped and had dinner. Service wasn't very good and there were only 6 people there and 2 of the 6 were only drinking. Food wasn't very good either. Kind of a let down.jûj

Don't expect to see the Slippery's from the movies, but make sure you stop in and have something to eat. My burger was great, over sized so I took 1/2 home. The coleslaw was excellent. I asked for a cup of hot water as it was so cold and the waitress brought me a glass of hot water with a... More
