My dad and I were heading up the Gunflint Trail last fall on a fishing outing and stopped here for breakfast one morning. The food was good, not great. Pretty typical eggs, hash browns and toast which my dad thought was good. I had an over top french toast plate that was about as sweet as liquid cotton candy. Tasty,... More

We ate dinner here. It was a small dinner menu but plenty of options for everyone. The inside is cute. The service was good. The food was a decent portion but I felt the prices were a bit high. Overall we enjoyed our food, especially the delicious blueberry pie!

Melt in your mouth ribs were just terrific. Our host and owner made sure the service was great and took the time to talk with us. What more can you say about great ribs except that you need to wash your hands after you're finished. Great service!

We were told the wait would be worth it. We only waited about 15 min to get seated and received our menus, drinks almost immediately. We were also told our waitress would be with us shortly. 20 min later we asked if we had a waitress or if we were on our own. I would have walked out then if... More

I took my 94-year-old mother on a trip along the North Shore and the Vanilla Bean was recommended to us by the little visitor info center on the north side of Duluth. Mom had chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles and loved it. I tried the fried herring and it was delicious. I'd only tried pickled herring and smoked herring... More

We stopped for lunch on our way up the coast and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The walleye sandwich was perfection, and the apple pecan baked beans can't be beat. Our server, Melanie, recommended the Carmel Pecan Bread Pudding - the best bread pudding ever!! My husband does not like bread pudding at all - but he tried and loved this... More

Server (Melanie) was just the nicest person! Recommended the dishes we ordered and the food was excellent! Arrived hot and delicious, and really set the tone for a great vacation. I enjoyed the fact that they make use of local produce. The wild rice cranberry bread was awesome!

This is a good restaurant if you want a great omelet. Enjoyed the Happy Camper omelet which is oven-baked. Filled the plate and tasted great. Came with whole-grain toast and homemade rhubarb jam which was very, very good. Would eat here again when in the area.
