I heard about this place from friends and stopped by one warm afternoon. this place has a huge variety of ice cream flavors and they do let you mix and match. I got a kids cone with 2 flavors. Please believe me when I tell you this is enough ice cream for 2 or 3 adults! I am a big... More

My family and I have been going to Nelsons for nearly 30 years. We stopped there today (on the way back to Minneapolis from Taylors Falls) and the ice cream portions seem to have gotten larger this year. A "child's" portion is around $3.50 and it has 6 scoops of ice cream on the cone or in the cup. And,... More

A little place that I passed multiple times, but everyone told me about. 42 flavors of homemade ice cream to chose from. The portions are HUGE!!! A child's size is ample for two people and the price is to die for. The chocolate peanut swirl is our favorite.

The portions and prices are UNREAL! A child size is like a larger in most other places. The ice cream flavors are outstanding. The only place to sit is outside so be prepared to eat very quickly if it's remotely hot out! Highly recommended!

You might be taken back by the prices on the board but don't worry, the value may be the best you will find anywhere. A child's cone is more then enough for a full grown adult. I am not sure how anyone can eat a larger cone. The ice cream is excellent. Lots of flavors. Highly recommend the French Silk... More

If you are in Stillwater and you love ice-cream, this mom and pop ice cream shop is a must visit. At first glance, the prices seem high. One scoop is about 4.25. But one scoop is all you need. In fact, my friend and I both ended up getting the "child's" size cone at 3.50 and it was more than... More

In Stillwater, there are many cute shops and yummy places to eat. Among them are the few ice cream shops which cater to the tourists, giving scoops of ice cream the size of racquetballs for $5. Nelson's, on the other hand, is one of those places a bit off of the main drag and where even the locals stand in... More

Have been getting cones here since i was 7 years old and I am 55. Still good. Sometimes to popular! Not fair to my waistline that it is only a few blocks away.

Don't order anything larger than a child size and definitely don't order a cone. Imagine trying to put an entire tub of ice cream on an ice cream cone - it just doesn't end well. If you really want a cone, order a cup with a cone on top. Seriously. With enough flavors to keep you seriously confused about which... More

There is a very long line outside this scoop shop, but that is not the main problem (especially since the staff works pretty fast). The problem in Nelson's is portion sizes. No, they're not so skimpy that you feel barely satisfied with a scoop. Quite the opposite: their portion sizes are so huge (4 or 5 large scoops for a... More
