Great Turkish food!

I've been here a few times now. This is an extremely small, hole in the wall type place in Midway. The staff are friendly, the food is excellent (try the kufta!) and cooked to order. The owners are usually working and are very friendly and proud of their food. It is a very casual restaurant, but the food is excellent. We usually get the platter for two and we end up with leftovers.

Value-priced joint when I need my gyro fix. They don't skimp on the meat. If you dine in, they give you your own squeeze bottle of fresh-from the refrigerator tzatziki sauce! This is an informal place; quite small and can get loud with tightly packed diners and a kitchen that's right up front. During the school year you're fighting the... More

Don't be put off by the storefront appearance of this place. The Middle Eastern food served here is quite good and very reasonably priced. Their falafel are actually some of the best I've had anywhere. We also enjoyed the Dolma and chicken kabobs. They don't have a liquor license, however.

We went there because it was rated 4.5+ everywhere. Honestly I don't know what's worth 4.5 there. I love Mediterranean food and have tried a lot of them across the price spectrum. This was not the worst but way below average. Please avoid at all cost. If you are in area for Mediterranean food go to Walley's Falafel and Hummus... More

This is an excellent Hamline Midway treasure! V. small and if you go at peak times expect a queue to order, but the service is fast and friendly. They have a classic middle eastern menu. I tried the donner kebab plate and my husband the combination plate. Everything was delicious, including a cheeky piece of baklava for dessert. This place... More

My Sister works across the Street and highly recommended the Black Sea over Dino's Gyros. I decided to try it. I had a Gyros meal with a Salad and Spinach Borek. Prices were very reasonable compared to the Competition. The Spinach Borek was excellent and had cheese in it which added a lot of flavor. My Gyro meat was good,... More

This place is small and crowded! It is obviously very popular! The food has a very traditional taste. The service is good with the server keeping us laughing! Don't miss his fresh baklava! It is probably the best I have ever had! I would go again just to have it again!!!!

Went here tonight and had not visited for at least 12 years. Not because anything was wrong, just kept forgetting about this gem. Even after a decade not only is it still delicious and fresh, but if you are missing the taste of a classic doner (better than a gyro), stop in and grab a couple bites. Even the falafel... More

I've been to Istanbul, the food is wonderful, and so is the Turkish & Mediterranean food at Black Sea. It's small, not many tables, busy at lunch (it's popular with the students and faculty from Hamline), so it may be best to arrive before 11:30, or wait until after 12:30. Inexpensive, fantastic food, it can't be beat.
