Good Italian south of the river (sans the trip downtown)

Friday night with a friend and lots of energy in the house. Glass of crisp Prosecco to start, then a tasty portion of spaghetti nero...rich ink pasta, very flavorful sauce, plenty of seafood. Generous basket of bread provided. Finished with panna cotta--just the right blend of creaminess with a... read more

Fabulous, authentic food! I only wish I could cook like this or eat here every evening. Our meal and service were perfect. Excellent wine selection. Service was perfectly timed. It was a fun experience...definitely to be repeated.

Happy hour is great. Nice options for the "happy part", wine, beer, etc. The food was yummy! We chose 3 to share among 4 of us...plenty of food! Mussels were fabulous, house pizza of the day, GREAT, and the short ribs Wow! Service was as good as the food!

Had a wonderful meal to celebrate our anniversary in this lovely restaurant. Started with calamari which is served simply with lemon juice. This is a very good idea in my opinion as the sauces that are often served with this dish take away from the seafood. Calamari was very tender and just ever so slightly breaded.Next we split the spicy... More

We went on a Groupon and will definitely go back when we have a special occasion. The food was very good, service excellent and the prices high. The waiter was very good giving us advice on dishes, their size (can we share?) and a good pairing of wine with the food. We started with the Calamari which was perfectly done... More

The selection of food was good but what we ordered was just average tasting. We were there on a coupon so the price was reasonable. Otherwise it would have been a big disappointment. Have been there before but this is likely our last time. Our advice is to dine elsewhere.

I would caution folks to do a bit of research before dining here. The prices are very high and what is offered can be found at other restaurants for more modest costs. The food is fairly good and service adequate. We do not plan to return.

This is a review of the fine dining restaurant. There is an adjacent market that also has tables and serves food. We visited I Nonni a few nights ago and the six of us were treated to a superb dinner. The appetizers (smaller than expected) and salads were great. Three of our group ordered the shrimp/potato-encrusted halibut and raved about... More

First of all, it was difficult to find. This was due to road being closed. I would advise close scrutiny of prices. We ended up with a bill of approximately $100(for 2), excluding tip. The meal was fine. We could have easily shared one of the HUGE steaks. Service was fine. If you order a cheese platter( cousin ordered it,... More

Osteria I Nonni is one of the few fine dining establishments available on St. Paul's west side, and if you are out to make a showy impression it may fit the bill. For us, we were underwhelmed. The ala carte menu is primarily in Italian and references various trendy foods and spices not in our usual lexicon. We scoured the... More
