Oyster Happy Hour!

Was here recently for happy hour to have drinks and food with friends. The oysters on happy hour are chef's choice from what is available that day, and the oysters that were selected were excellent. When I first came to the Meritage years ago, it was because I had heard great things about it. And it was good: good food, service, atmosphere, etc. But I would't say that I raved about it. But now I'm 8 years older and wiser and after having tried so many restaurants around the twin cities and other states, and... More

Visited with a party of 6 early on a Sunday evening with high expectations. First, in ordering, our server would offer no accomodations in their menu for a toddler until we pointed out another table where accomodations were obviously being made. Even though she mentioned that she had noticed the other table we referenced, she did not bring it up... More

A real French Bistro in St Paul? Yes, even the bread tastes like it was made in Paris...the Ahi Tuna was outstanding...the best I can remember. My wife's flank steak was also delicious...excellent service...a marvelous dining experience

We enjoyed our dishes immensely ordering the Eggs Benedict and the Eggs en Cocotte - both were cooked to perfection, and yes, the hollandaise sauce is the best in the Twin Cities. We also ordered a side of Pommes Frites - a bit salty for our liking but cooked to a delicate crispness. Even the canary cantaloupe and orange garnishments... More

We dined here pre-Ordway and had a lovely 5 course tasting meal. Just tell them that you have theatre tickets and they will pace appropriately. gnocchi Parisienne crab galette Pan roasted halibut Roasted beef loin opea cake All courses were very good but the halibut was fantastic. The gnocchi is not your typical gnocchi. Service was friendly, efficient and fun.

The service was good; they got us in and out in 45 minutes so we could make our theatre date. The wine list is interesting, and the waiter made a good recommendation. Our salads (organic lettuces) were fresh and very tasty. My husband loved the mussels steamed with panceta; to my taste the meat overpowered the mussels. My pork chops... More

Fish was a small serving but tasty and hot. Somewhat noisy with echoes. Wine superb as was waiter--knowledgeable but unobtrusive. Gratis dessert for my birthday--like a large ice cream bonbon with chocolate.

This a cute French bistro. It has some great wines by the glass. The Oysters were first rate and as fresh as could be. The choice was both from the east and west coast. The menu has a nice selection of bistro classics. The is also a great collection of fresh fish. On a sunny summer day there is a... More

We did an anniversary staycation but decided to go across the river to St Paul instead of staying in Minneapolis. St Paul has a reputation among Minneapolitans for shutting down early every night and for being, well, a bit boring compared to Minneapolis. Meritage was definitely worth the flack we got from friends for saying we are hanging out in... More
