I like craft beers. I like good food. That must be why I end up at the Gnome so often. The Beer; an overwhelming array of options that change seasonally. Obscure, hoppy, Belgainy, sour, local, seasonal you name it, they have it. This is the place to expand your knowledge and appreciation of the revolution going on in brewing. Try... More

The Happy Gnome is one of my favorite bars in Saint Paul that is easy to get to and hard to leave. They always have over 75+ craft brews on draft as well as an extensive bourbon collection! This is a great bar to meet up with friends or acquaintances over a couple drinks, and the patio is gorgeous and... More

Finally had the opportunity to sample this Cathedral Hill icon. Met an old friend for lunch on a Monday, and everything was perfect! The atmosphere, the service, the food, my beer, all was top-notch. The only detail that troubled us a bit was that we were sat by the front door, and were exposed to a cold draft each time... More

Always great food, great beer, great atmosphere. Only problem is, it's so popular it's sometimes hard to find a seat! But if the main floor is packed, always check upstairs.

I had occasion to enjoy a meal with family members at this restaurant. The decor was cozy and atmosphere was enjoyable with a diverse assortment of fun-loving diners. The menu had a wide variety of food items and beverages that helped the diners enjoy their meals in a friendly setting. My companions chose favored items and found them to meet... More

Always a fun spot for a meal or drinks and knosh. Nothing fancy but nothing boring. Great service too.

First there was a great beer choice and you pay for that. The pretzels and cheese dip were absolutely wonderful. But the beef panini sandwich and fries were no big deal and pricey. The prices on the menu were considerable. The service was slow. Perhaps just get the pretzels and a beer next time. Crowded and crazy.

I was traveling to the area for business and stumbled upon this place on the web and decided to try it. Fun menu with great food, lots of beer options although I had a glass of wine. The crowd is casual and I sat at the bar. I would definitely go again the next time I'm in town.

I was in the area for a business trip and the company I was with recommended a little "pub." With a name like "Happy Gnome" how do you not go? I went and was very HAPPILY surprised. The beer selection was excellent, and the menu was diversified. You can have chicken, fish, steak, etc... (something for everyone) If you are... More

We stumbled across this eatery by chance when headed through the St Paul area. We swung by and had a great experience. An INCREDIBLY expansive beer selection along with a very simple but awesome food selection. The pork chops were great and the beer was perfectly chilled. We'll make sure to head back here on future trips in the area.
