Went for a weekday lunch with friends. It was my first visit. All three of us had the walleye sandwich which came with fries. Loved the bun which was nicely toasted. The walleye was tasty but a very small filet. The sandwich was cut in half and the chunk of walleye on one bun half certainly didn't cover the bun.... More

Was recently in visiting the twin cities and wondered where to eat on a cold snowy night. Decided Tavern on Grand would fit the bill. Always enjoy dining on traditional Minnesota fare such as Walleyed Pike, wild rice soup and tater tot hot dish (Couldn't resist) Food and service were excellent. Always brings back great memories of growing up in... More

I am a child of a Twin Cities fisherman. Growing up, I was taught that walleye is the best fish we have in our area. I believed that. I ate it in abundance over my 57 years. And I have never been able to find that quality anywhere in this area.... Until I went to Tavern on Grand. Everything is... More

We visited the Tavern on Grand for my sister's rehearsal dinner in October, 2014. There were 30 of us that were seated in their private room. The service was phenomenal - we had two servers who were extremely organized and competent. We always had our drinks filled, and our dishes cleared. The food was delicious - our group had the... I enjoyed two fillets of pike. One was grilled while the other fillet was blackened. Both were cooked exceptionally well but the grilled fillet was prepared a bit better. The surroundings were a bit dated but reasonably clean. The service was exceptional and friendly

The Walleye Sandwich at Tavern on Grand is one of the best meals along this restaurant laden street. I always request the jalapeno tartar sauce and am never disappointed. Their Shore Lunch special is another favorite lunch option, and will make you feel like you are sitting alongside a Minnesota lake enjoying the morning's catch. I like to sit at... More

Very casual restaurant, cabin decor.... tables and booths, limited menu. The food in general was so so but the walleye was worth the price of the meal.

Cool up north decor with a tavern feel. They had some of the usual bar food menu items along with many walleye selections but the walleye spring rolls were fabulous. Not too greasy and a light sauce. Would visit again for the rolls!

Our family lives a couple hours south of St Paul. When we need a place to linger and say good bye to a family member after dropping in college or to welcome them back to MN after picking them up at the airport, we have been happy with Tavern on Grand. The atmosphere is casual with a nice neighborhood bar... More

Our "go to" place when in the Twin Cities for walleye never disappoints! This visit I ordered a side salad and the $12 Walleye Sampler "appetizer" which included four offerings (grilled, fried, blackened and a "cake" with Bearnaise sauce) for dinner which was more than enough food for me (I had leftovers); all of the preparations were delicious! Service was... More
