Fresh and Flavorful Upscale Dining

Heartland uses fresh local ingredients in a modern way. The menu is perfect for "foodies." The restaurant uses lesser known foods prepared uniquely. The atmosphere is upscale with an industrial look. The bar is a good spot to go for drinks and small bites as well as main entrees. Service was... read more

A couple of years ago my family took me to the Heartland for my birthday because we had read that it was so wonderful. The food was so salty it was almost inedible. I didn't make a fuss because my family and friends were trying to make my birthday special. Haven't gone back and don't plan to. The date below... More

The area closest to CHS field is deli-like. Slice meats, cheeses, deserts. Decided to walk further into Heartland. Voila' the bar. It's not large but has an excellent choice of spirits, infusions, wine and beer. If your preferred libation is not stocked, the bar manager can suggest an alternative that will become your NEW preferred libation. I had the burger.... More

My girlfriend and I took our guests from Australia to Heartland on Saturday night. 3 of us ordered the Walleye, one was a vegetarian. The waiter was quite good, the food was bland and costly. At one time, the restaurant was rated one of the best dining experiences for vegetarians....you can officially put that perception to rest. The waiter had... More

We hadn't been here for a few years, but decidd to give it another try for a birthday dinner becasue the chef/owner always gets so many accolades in the local Twin Cities magazines. But I guess he wasn't on duty that night. Only one of the dishes we had actually tasted good and that was the fried green tomatos (!).... More

We had a wonderful evening at the Heartland restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised to find valet parking even as early as 5pm. This was at the 5th St entrance which has stairs. There is also an entrance on North Broadway, which is handicapped accessible. The decor was a mix of modernized former warehouse, high ceilings & lots of natural light,... More

This was the second visit to the restaurant, the first one a year prior. While we had enjoyed the first experience, this second visit was even better. Lovely setting. Great menu - simple but plenty of choices. Fresh local ingredients. A nice wine list including some interesting wines by the glass. Service was attentive and warm. Overall a great experience... The menu sounds terrific, but when the dishes arrive, they are under seasoned and bland. Service is fine. Wine prices are reasonable. Maybe the place is too big? Maybe a chef needs to tweak finishing touches and add more flavor. An example: the bright yellow macaroon that came with the lavender panna cotta: none of us could discern any flavor.

We were four for dinner, 2 vegetarians who might eat fish and two meat eaters. At the top of the menu was a set vegetarian 3 course meal (flora) which delighted in every way. The other vegetarian loved the trout and its imaginative and savory preparation. The chicken was excellently prepared said one "fauna" fan. But I have to be... More

We were in town and decided to celebrate our anniversary a few weeks early. Were pleasantly surprised we could get reservations on a Friday night at 7pm, because we couldn't at Spoon & Stable or the Bachelor Farmer. Anyway, Heartland turned out to be a perfect choice. The service from Phillip was excellent, if I was guessing I'd say he... More
