Ate here with a group and the food and service were exceptional. We ordered off the menu and everything everyone ordered looked fantastic. I had the trout and we shared a variety of side dishes, all of which were very tasty. A wine recommendation from the waiter turned out to be fantastic, and overall it was a wonderful meal!

We went to heartland on a recommendation from a relative and from the sounds of it, having a fresh food restaurant adjacent to the farmer's market that specialized in locally grown produce sounded inviting. We came at a slow early dinner time. The interior of the old rehabbed brick building has a wood dominated theme with open beams and pipes... More

Much to my foodie chagrin had not been to Heartland in St. Paul, Minnesota. Knew of Lenny Russo, one of the Twin Cities top chefs but not served in his own restaurant. Four of us were there for a birthday not expecting all that much and we all were wowed by the beautiful presentations, freshness and delicate flavorings, and first... More

We wanted to love our first visit to Heartland Restaurant last night because we are downtown residents, but unfortunately it was nothing to write home about. Thus, I'm writing a review instead. We had reservations but were denied a window seat because they were reserved for special people the hostess told us. We were given a choice to sit by... More

I had the pleasure of dining at Heartland when visiting family in Minnesota. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the steelhead trout with roasted beets. The beet dish was large enough for 3 or 4 of us to share with our main course. The fish was cooked perfectly and served with a delicious millet and peas. Most of the... More

The exquisitely delicate hors d'oeuvre radish flavor surpassed the elegant presentation, as captured in the submitted photo. The gingered carrots were also delightful, with a generous portion at the price of $8.00. There is an architecturally significant circular iron staircase entrance to Heartland Farm Direct Market, adjacent to Heartland Restaurant in historic lower town, across the street from St. Paul's... Went to Heartland for 4th time and had both good and so so. Valet parking for $8 is too much given they simply park your car at the Farmers Market. Always amazed by the interior wood beams - the men who built the building were true craftsmen! Given the local vodkas, my martini was a perfect substitute. Disappointed in the... More

We reserved the chef's table for a special night out. Expectations of personal service, special menu, and farm fresh ingredients were high. Unfortunately we were completely disappointed. I will NEVER eat here again. Food mediocre at best. Service substandard. Chef/owner pompous, rude, and has no idea what it means to treat a customer. I will ensure that everyone that asks... More

Apparently Heartland Restaurant is in dire need of revenue. That is the only explanation I can provide for seating anyone at the horrible table next to the stairs to the bathroom AND the wait station. The food could not have made up for the distraction of waiters/waitresses CONSTANTLY flying by like a subway train. The owners, the managers, or the... More

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The service is fantastic and the food worthy of the price. The cocktails are even worth discussing! Beautiful presentation from beginning to end. You have a three course option on the menu as well as large and small plates and sides to share. If you want a more causal, no reservation option then... More
