A Birthday experience

My wife and I went here for my birthday. Thankfully we were warned to check what was going on since it was during the St. Paul Winter Carnival. The bar up front was very busy and noisy. With the hard wood floors and plaster wall the sounded carried throughout the restaurant. We arrived early... read more

The Glockenspiel's menu advertises Fish all you can eat for $14.95; the cod was heavily battered in a beer batter, and the pieces were cut in small quarters. Our fish was served with a 2oz plastic cup of tasteless coleslaw, and cold limp french fries. We asked our server for more fish for the three of us and 2 pieces were... More

This is some of the best German food outside of Germany I've ever had. Just wish they'd bring back the ribs with sauerkraut which was to die for!!

My favorite is the Hungarian chicken sandwich. Anything ending in "schnitzel" is a treat, especially the jaegerschnitzel with the mushroom cream sauce. Robust selection of imported beers on tap or bottled! Dopplebock being my favorite.

I found the Glockenspiel on TA when looking for a place to eat after being at the Ordway. The decor is "German" in a way, and very pleasant on a Sunday evening. (Friday and Saturday evenings there are accordion players featured.) The menu is just broad enough and includes food for various palates. The wienerschnitzel was very good, as was... More

I was visiting St. Paul and was fortunate to have spent an evening at Glockenspiel. I loved the setting, the vibe, the staff, the food and of course the beer. I wish I lived in the area because I would definitely be a regular. What a fantastic place for a relaxed night out. The pate is absolutely delicious!

Great beer selection - fabulous bartender - excellent bar food (try the Elegant Pretzel smothered in sauerkraut and sausages and cheese OMG) AND great conversation at the bar. We love this place.

Authentic old country grub. Music and schnapps. Who needs more. The places has ethnic appeal that's for sure. Eat the kraut.

Terrific German beer selection, food and atmosphere. Best German restaurant in St. Paul by far ... plus wonderful German-themed murals on the walls and a unique urinal in the men's room.
