Authentic old country grub. Music and schnapps. Who needs more. The places has ethnic appeal that's for sure. Eat the kraut.

Terrific German beer selection, food and atmosphere. Best German restaurant in St. Paul by far ... plus wonderful German-themed murals on the walls and a unique urinal in the men's room.

I love German food!! I love the atmosphere in this restaurant, but I do have to say that it smelled a bit like mold/mildew, which was not good. We were seated and our waitress came over quickly to take our drink orders. She missed one of the drinks, and she ended up not coming back to our table so we... More

Stopped for lunch after a meeting. I had heard about this place for a long time and it finally worked. Had a great meal, very tasty. Lunch is definitely slow and quiet. Atmosphere is OK but imagine it would be a lot more fun when busier. Unfortunately I couldn't sample the biers as I had to head back to work.

I will start with a disclaimer that since my wife is German, we are VERY picky about our German resturants. That said, this place pretty much met expectations, I'll detail in descending order. The dining area and bar are spacious and very well decorated. The selection of German beer on tap is excellent. Menu is extensive and authentic. The food... More

We and kids stopped for apps after museum visit. Adults had good German beers. The schnitzel strips were tasty and the sauce was great! The combo platter was good as well. The kids split a giant pretzel with cheese and had fries that you could add on to the combo. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. We may go... More

I've been coming to The Glockenspiel since 2009, and I can't think of a better bar in Saint Paul to go to for German beer and company. The Glockenspiel has a regular cast of characters, many of which are warm and quirky folks who share a love for drink and good humor. The wait staff are always attentive, and often... More

Husband I were there on Valentine's weekend and ordered their expensive couples special. The appetizer was advertised as a wine marinated shrimp, eight small plain shrimp arrived with a tasty cocktail sauce. I asked the hostess about this and she stated that she was only the hostess, then to ask our waitress. Very poor customer service. When asked, the Waitress... More

A group of 5 visited on a Thursday night and were immediately seated. The menu made the food choice difficult...so many tasty entries. The group tried 2 appetizers: Schnitzel Fingers and Sauerkraut Balls. The Schnitzel Fingers were served with lemon garlic mayo which was a flavorful touch. The Sauerkraut Balls were an interesting change of pace: crispy on the outside... More

Whether you sit in the bar area up front, or at the Stamtisch with several friends, the food is excellent and served by friendly staff. If you hit one of their festivals, it gets even better. I particularly enjoy the Sauerbraten. They also have an incredible beer selection, of course of mostly German beers. Don't bother going there for a... More
