Simple American Breakfast in Historic Diner

I had heard about Mickey's from fellow Taste Trekkers prior to my trip to St. Paul and the buzz continued during my stay. If it's a local institution I had to try it. A short walk from the St. Paul Hotel in lightly falling snow on a Sunday morning brought me to the restaurant. I was lucky to get... read more

Never had a bad meal here. Small, but the food is so classic greasy diner, you just dont care! I've only had breakfast here. Its downtown so parking can be a pain.....but you know, you work hard for what you want!

We were in town for a few days and this place was recommended by the hotel. The parking was ample and the atmosphere was welcoming. The staff was efficient and the food was good. Busy down-town diner

Excellent breakfast, awesome atmosphere. Everyone was friendly, coffee is great, more food than I could eat for $7.95. I'd go back.

Since Mickey's Diner has been in St. Paul for decades, it is a very fun place to eat, because it reminds you of old times. The malts are served in a soda glass with the can on the side, and it has your typical 50s food. Mickey's is always open, so a person can go to eat at any time.... More

I expected a decent burger from this place, but that didn't happen. I would have asked for something else, but I wasn't sure I would be more satisfied with anything and the place was packed wall to wall. I'll probably give it one more try, just because I love the environment.

We came starving!! it was a bit of a wait but it was a Saturday morning. Standing directly behind the customers as they eat was uncomfortable. finally got a seat, hollered our order to the waitress and proceeded to watch the cook make everyone's food. Somethings should be secret. I will tell you the pancakes were unbelievable!! They looked thick... More

I went there twice within a month. Once with a friend after touring the Ramsey House and once with my family when going to the Science Museum. We walked here on both occasions. It is a dive and a bit of a greasy spoon, but fun to check out. The portions sizes are large and you do get your money's... More

This is an iconic place to eat in St. Paul and we only had to wait a few minutes to get a seat on a cold Friday night. It was well worth it. We sat down and enjoyed the view of the cooks preparing our meal, then delved in to delicious plates of warm American food. Never better!

As in my title, food and service is very poor. The restaurant is filthy/dirty (I assume the excuse it because it is open 24/7 since it was open before World War II). But to me it is not an excuse but only bad, bad management. And not only floor and walls are here dirty but also dishes. Usually I am... More
