Breakfast Is Best

I've been to this cafe for early breakfast for informal business meetings many times over the years and never had any issues. The omelets have been very good, but my sweet tooth inclination gets me to order waffles and french toast. My recent visit early morning midweek for breakfast was no... read more

I had the roast beef with potatoes and gravy and the meat was so tender, no fat and an ample portion of everything. I had their banana cream pie for dessert and it was scrumptious. My husband had the vegetable with rice soup and he found it to be delicious.

My sister suggested Keys for lunch with elderly aunt and a couple of others. I was here several years ago and it was good then so thought that would be fine. Noisy and crowded, though I can't figure out why. The food was pretty awful - tasted like they use the very low end of the ingredient spectrum. All of... More

Have been to this neighborhood establishment several times - the food is consistent and satisfying. The servers are always in a rush or so it seems, but the rating is for the food. They have mastered breakfast and have the awards to prove it. I've seen poor ratings about their service - too bad their food trumps white aprons and... More

Restaurants in St. Paul and Minneapolis this place provides something for everyone. Baked goods. Eggs. Pancakes. Generous portions. Can get crowded on the weekends.

Keys has locations all over the Twin Cities. Most serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But it seems the main focus is on breakfast. The pancakes are fantastic. There is a nice selection of other offerings. But little attention is paid to the healthiness of any options. The atmosphere and vibe is that of a 1950s diner.

Key's Cafe was noisy and crowded at lunch. I don't know why it was crowded. The Italian sausage sandwich was overpriced and composed primarily of grease. The tomato soup was rather strange, not bad, but the predominant flavor was not of tomatoes but rather of something I didn't recognize. Salad was merely OK. The bread and cookies were good. I'd... Many people love Keys, but we've found their food to be over-priced and not that awesome. Eggs Benedict are great! But omelets you have to be super specific whether you want hash browns *in* the omelet or on the side.

I had six people at Keys for lunch. The short summary of our visit was: mediocre to poor for food and very poor for service. I had the Farmer's omelet and the onions were large and very raw. My wife had Eggs Benedict Florentine and was not impressed. The rest said their food was ok. Large quantities of food did... More

Stopped for lunch today. Looked over the specials on the board while waiting to be seated. Didn't take long to get seated. Hostess was sweet and kept a big smile throughout my visit. Ordered the California burger/fries. Bus person brought me water. Waved down the server as I was sort of hidden in a booth. She was very sweet. Told... More
