My wife's sister and her husband were in town for their grandson's wrestling tournament at the Civic Center. At lunch time we wanted to get away from the wrestling and have a good lunch. Newt's was only 4 blocks away - so we brought them there for a burger and a beer. As usual - the burgers were great and... More

Newts has the hands down best hamburgers in Rochester! We have been among the secret band of regulars for 20 years. The only way to get to Newts is up a long flight of stairs; there is no place to wait (and you frequently have to wait for a seat) and the decorating is so old that it gives the... More

As hamburger joints go , Newt's is pretty good. Located on the second floor next to the City Cafe. Service was friendly but not particularly fast. Casual, with a very local daily business clientele. Very family friendly. Lots of booths. Quaint atmosphere. There is a "satellite" Newt`s in the skyway near the University square shopping area that may be more... More

Everyone around us,that came after we ordered, had there meals way before we did,in a very short time!seems like locals, are favored! Our food was overdone, and on the cold side!! The waiters do more visiting than waiting on the customers orders!! Would not return again!

For a number of years this place has been noted for 'The Best Burger in Town". On my occasions there it has lived up to that expectation. The fries were good, however I like healhtier sides to choose from. It seemed to lack that.

Newt's burgers are phenomenal. The only suggestion I would make is to warn that they cook on the rare side. Make sure that when you order a "Med Well" burger that you specify that you want zero pink or you will get a med rare hamburger.

Had a chance to go here. Had a delicious burger and some of the best onion rings. It was so good we want a second time the next night. This time we had the nachos which were great and piled high. If you have a chance definitely give it a try.

Newts is known for their burgers! But the fish taco's at the North location rock! Great bloddy Mary's also!

There is a reason they were voted best burger 10 years in a row. The assortment of burger options is great and the pile of fries you get are hand-cut and awesome. Treat yourself to an ultimate bloody mary which comes with a burger, hard boiled egg, bacon, etc. piled on top!

I've eaten here twice while my husband was visiting Mayo. Both times, the burger was outstanding! I don't remember what it was called, but it had tortilla chips and what I believe was homemade guac. Yum!!! We'll be returning to Rochester in March, and I expect that we'll be right back at Newt's. The atmosphere isn't what I would call... More
