The Grouper special is what City Cafe is best known for and it did not disappoint. The presentation suited the fresh well-prepared fish and its sides. The Pecan Crusted Walleye was also good. The service was prompt and friendly. And don't miss the pesto and olive oil for dipping the bread.

The best thing about this place is that they are open later than most places in town. Waitress was pleasant, seemed to know the menu, and was attentive. Based on my meal however, I cannot recommend this restaurant. The tomato soup tasted terrible as if it were loaded with sugar. The shrimp bruschetta just didn't work and the serving was... More

This is a great little restaurant we ran into when we were walking around the Mayo Clinic looking for a place to eat. They had just opened a little outside area with tables and umbrellas where they have set up a grill and have lunch specials on the grill, (or you can order off the regular menu). We had the... More

My wife and I chose to dine at the bar. It was a Monday evening and the place was fairly quiet. We were the only ones at the bar. I was shocked that a nice place like this made Bloody Mary's from a mix. Not sure what kind it was but it was awful. I couldn't drink it. The bar... More

The City Cafe has always been one of our favorite restaurants as their food and service are both outstanding. We love their grouper but their entree salads are also delicious. The ambiance is great and they have beautiful outside seating.

Great find near the Mayo Clinic. Cozy atmosphere, fast friendly service, good food, reasonable price. Party of two, we both had the same thing, starting with a very good tomato basil soup and then a crab and shrimp salad with an outstanding house vinaigrette. Very pleased. Would return.

This cafe is a great place for a burger, beef or salmon, and fries, servings are generous, food is served piping hot, outdoor seating is charming and intimate, service unhurried and cost is moderate. We visit this restaurant each time we visit Rochester

The homemade bread with pesto was delicious and the garlic and white wine mussels were likewise. My favorite was the ginger peach glazed salmon and my buddy's Rosemary Chicken was moist, tender and excellent. LOVE the strung lights of the alleyway seating; felt like Little Italy during a festival. The candles are a lovely touch and the whole is incredibly... More

City Cafe is a great place to eat & is close to the Mayo Clinic. It's in the downtown area and is a charming spot to eat. I like eating there but it isn't quite the experience when dining with my grandkids that I prefer.

The food is great and the cost is reasonable. I recommend fish or seafood dishes but everything on the menu looks great. If the weather is nice, sit on the patio in the alley.
