Next door to The Archer House is Chapati, a deservedly popular Indian restaurant. I must admit that the notion of finding yummy Indian food in Northfield, MN. seemed, well, a bit foreign. Give it a try ... I ate there a number times during my visits to see our son at Carleton. The food was always delicious and plentiful (helpful... More

Nice restaurant down on Division street at the base of Carleton College. If you eat Indian food a lot, then you won't be disappointed as all the usual fare is there whether it's a masala, pakora, biryani or just Tandoori chicken. And with the exception of the lamb korma (which was dry), it was all quite good! I would definitely... More

Initial and follow-up service wasn't stellar, but hey, it's a college town. Seated in a semi-private alcove-feeling table - nice seclusion. All of the food was done well, with flavors that are more pure/ more concentrated than other indian restaurants. (Can't say how authentic or true to form they as I've not visited the sub-continent.) Careful when you order the... More

We love the buffet here. Always tasty. We don't go very often, and won't because one of the partners is a snake in the grass. But the people that run it and cook are great.

Every dish was a winner. The Nan was soft. The papadams were crispy. The rice was fragrant. The curries were delicious and various. The pickles and sauces are home-made. Go for the luncheon buffet (about $10 each) Bring friends. Nestled into the belly of the Archer House, a delightful old fashioned hotel. Leave full and happy. Bow to the Buddha... More

A little too hot for me, but all of my adult children rave about their food. There is enough variety, however, to find something to please every palate.

If you are a fan of Indian food, this is the spot for you. It is not inexpensive, but definitely worth the price. They also have some great Indian beers!

I'm a college student and frequent the lunch buffet, and the food is excellent. For around 11 dollars its all you can eat. Be sure to try its rice pudding.

Located off the lobby of The Archer House River Inn, Chapati will satisfy! The wait to be seated isn't longer that most busy restaurants on a Saturday night, but service is slow, so don't be in a hurry. Dinner there is well worth the wait! It was my first experience eating Indian food, but word has it, it ranks among... More

But, don't go on a Tuesday, for the Palak Paneer is distinctively different than later in the week. Kormas are great, too.
