Chapati serves up quite good Indian food in a pleasant setting adjoining the Archer House River Inn. The menu includes all the staple Indian dishes (curries, vindaloos, kormas, biryanis, kababs, tandooris, etc.), organized into categories: traditional, tandoori, and biryani. There's a limited wine list ($7 per glass) and four beer choices, including two Indian imports. Service is OK (though my... More

The menu is quite extensive, and we ordered a mixed vegetarian plate starter, and three main courses. The starter was fine (papads, pakoras and samosas). My main course (veg dhansak) was tasteless, and very disappointing. I asked for it to be made hot, but it was totally bland. I would not go back again.

I went for lunch and dinner on two separate days. Lunch was buffet style everything was good. They have several entrees out, appetizers, salad and dessert. I was impressed with the selection. Dinner was tasty but the ambiance left a lot to be desired. A change of wall color and lighting is in order I think. Judging by the other... More

Food is excellent. Service horrid. Moderately busy night but there were adequate staff. Three tables were sat at roughly the same time. All three of us waited with nothing but menus on the tables for a very long time. One table asked a buster to send a waiter. She called her over, but she walked out. Five minutes later another... We visited on a beautiful saturday afternoon. We sat on the porch, overlooking the street and the conclusion of the "Defeat of Jessie James Days" - which is very much worth doing. We had the dinner for two that include one meat, one vegy currie, naan and 3 items to put on it, rice, and dessert. Things started off well,... More

My wife, daughter and I went to Chapati for dinner. The restaurant is in a house (part of the Archer House) with multiple small dining rooms. The evening we went the restaurant was relatively busy but there were open tables and we were seated immediately. It was clean and the seating was cozy but the room was hot. We were... More

I think the closest any of the staff have been to the sub continent is India-na. The food is decent and the beverages are reasonable but the service is absolutely awful. Here's an idea: Vacuuming next to a table of diners is not appreciated, ever... Wait until the customers have finished their meal and are out the door before beginning... More

We like Chapati very much and go there about once per year when we're in town. THe portions are huge and definitely sharable. Be careful of the spice level. Even 'medium' was quite spicy and we enjoy a little heat. We have found the service to be very attentive- no problems there. Try the Lassi-- very refreshing.

Chipati is a popular restaurant in Northfield and for good reason. It offers authentic Indian dishes in an approachable environment. The food is great. There is a lunch buffet that is a fun way to try a variety of dishes.

We only ordered samosas, naan, and two entrees, but all of them were pretty ordinary. The samosas had a nice crispy crust but very simple feeling, without much texture. The onion chutney served with them was new and tasty, but in the end I preferred the mint sauce. My chicken was spicy, as advertised on the menu, but there was... More
