Very good Indian for a small town

Chapati serves up quite good Indian food in a pleasant setting adjoining the Archer House River Inn. The menu includes all the staple Indian dishes (curries, vindaloos, kormas, biryanis, kababs, tandooris, etc.), organized into categories: traditional, tandoori, and biryani. There's a limited wine... read more

Did not find it advertised that they close between lunch and dinner. Drove from Owatonna and found out from another shop that we would have to wait 2 hours. Coming here was the only reason we came to Northfield. ..now to think of plan B.

Extensive menu and terrific lunch buffet with authentic Indian entrees, desserts, and beverages. Great atmosphere with a variety of rooms, décor, and attentive staff.

The food is OK, the service is good. The lunch buffet is decent. The dinner prices are way too high for what the food is. Better bet is find Indian in the cities or learn to make your own.

The menu is quite extensive, and we ordered a mixed vegetarian plate starter, and three main courses. The starter was fine (papads, pakoras and samosas). My main course (veg dhansak) was tasteless, and very disappointing. I asked for it to be made hot, but it was totally bland. I would not go back again.

I went for lunch and dinner on two separate days. Lunch was buffet style everything was good. They have several entrees out, appetizers, salad and dessert. I was impressed with the selection. Dinner was tasty but the ambiance left a lot to be desired. A change of wall color and lighting is in order I think. Judging by the other... More

Food is excellent. Service horrid. Moderately busy night but there were adequate staff. Three tables were sat at roughly the same time. All three of us waited with nothing but menus on the tables for a very long time. One table asked a buster to send a waiter. She called her over, but she walked out. Five minutes later another... We visited on a beautiful saturday afternoon. We sat on the porch, overlooking the street and the conclusion of the "Defeat of Jessie James Days" - which is very much worth doing. We had the dinner for two that include one meat, one vegy currie, naan and 3 items to put on it, rice, and dessert. Things started off well,... More

My wife, daughter and I went to Chapati for dinner. The restaurant is in a house (part of the Archer House) with multiple small dining rooms. The evening we went the restaurant was relatively busy but there were open tables and we were seated immediately. It was clean and the seating was cozy but the room was hot. We were... More

We like Chapati very much and go there about once per year when we're in town. THe portions are huge and definitely sharable. Be careful of the spice level. Even 'medium' was quite spicy and we enjoy a little heat. We have found the service to be very attentive- no problems there. Try the Lassi-- very refreshing.
