One of the Fargo-Moorhead area’s gems. Ushers is located within the former site of the American Legion. The building was built in 1936 as part of the Works Progress Administration, which was set up under President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal plan to get people back to work during the Great Depression. This historic building sits on the Red River... More

On our way to Fargo from Minneapolis, we stopped here for lunch -- and what a brilliant choice! We sat in the back area to take in the view of the park with the Red River cutting through. Our waitress, Erin, recommended the special: the Hog Wings [wrapped in bacon] with a mango glaze and side of pasta salad. And... More

This is a great little restaurant in a restored WPA building overlooking the meandering Red River. The menu has a great variety of sandwiches, salads, and more substantial meals. One of us had the crab cake BLT and the other went with chicken Caesar salad (with a great home-made dressing). Both were excellent! Although we skipped dessert, the choices sounded... More

This is a nice place with options of a bar menu, pub items and fine dining. They try to be creative. Usually at least B+. Good effort. Nice ambiance in the dining room with nice view of the river.

I had the battered walleye last week and it was excellent! The tartar sauce was delectable and I asked for extra. It tasted a bit like capers, which I love. We normally sit on the patio or in the bar but sat in the restaurant part and enjoyed the view of the frozen river and ski trails.

They serve excellent food but are pricey. I had an appetizer and it was $16. A nice atmosphere with glass windows overlooking the Red River.

Looking for a nice place to have lunch while in Fargo and chose Usher's House based on it's older building and atmosphere. Not disappointed. The interior is lovely, stone walls and dark wood everywhere. The room in back has glass walls on three sides overlooking a beautiful park-like area and river. Service was friendly and attentive. I ordered the crabby... More

Went there for lunch yesterday. It was -9°F when we arrived, but the greeting was warm. The service was casual, but fast and friendly. Upon ascending from the foyer I was struck by the expansive view through the walls of glass to the frozen Red River and former Zoological Gardens outside. Our table overlooked the old bear cage. My companion... More
