A real gem

If you're looking for a hole-in-the-wall bar with inexpensive (mediocre) food, look elsewhere. Or if you're looking for overpriced food and a pretentious, swanky crowd - drive a bit further west to Ike's on Hwy. 7. (Or virtually any spot on Lake St. in Wayzata.) But if you want terrific food, a... read more

This is always the restaurant our family goes to after a play at the Old Log Theatre or Stages. The food is always great, try the split pea soup, you will not be disappointed, the service is friendly and quick and it is a family environment on a Sunday. We love this place!

I was looking for a good meal, but only had about 45 minutes. The service was fast even though they were very busy. The Golden Nugget reputation for great burgers is true. I even had a choice for sweet potato fries! I was not disappointed with anything.

If you want a burger that tastes homemade and really good, this is the place you nave to try!! The burgers look like they are made by hand, not processed; they are juicy and full of flavor. The fries are really good too and you can get sweet potato fries too. As always, the waitstaff are really friendly and go... More

The food here is consistently good; decidedly better than typical "beer and burger" joints. There is a wide variety of beers available. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable for the most part but can become crowded and noisy at times. Overall a good value.

Every time that I have eaten at Gold Nugget, the food and service has been consistently good. Some time we have had a little bit of a wait-but always worth it!

It's true that the Gold Nugget is no longer a hole-in-the-wall bar serving just burgers and fries, but things change, and the Gold Nugget has too. The food has been pretty consistently good on every visit. I've had fish and chips, the walleye sandwich, and of course the burgers. The food is what you would expect as far as bar... More

My burger was amazing. Combination of being cooked to perfection and tasted like heaven. Good selection of local beers. A bit tricky to get too but well worth a visit

Boy, what a road this restaurant has had. Gold Nugget used to be a low-key hole-in-the-wall tavern, and now it has evolved into a modern restaurant with a large bar. What a few years ago seemed like a decent restaurant is now an overpriced experience. The burgers are quite small, and way overpriced at around $15 a burger. Ridiculously expensive... More
